Throughout the trilogy, William displays a wide range of personalities, often contradictory and conflicting. This post will speculate on which of his personalities is dominant, using data found in the novels, the games, and official interviews.

William is a cheerful and approachable businessman.

It's unclear if this character is genuine, but given his theatricality and cunning, it's more likely that he's playing another character, like Dave and Springtrap.

William is an intellectual genius and goal-oriented. Perhaps he was motivated by learning to create animatronics like Henry, and that's why he played the role of friend—to gain Henry's trust and, as his partner, to get closer to Henry's research. He's a charismatic theater student with an overwhelming fear of death. He's also incapable of thinking quickly.

Before 1983, William met a man named Henry Emily, with whom he opened a local family restaurant, Fredbear's Family Diner, and with whom he probably founded Fazbear Entertainment. He hates his children and detests Michael. Henry created the Springlooks, which allow the animatronic to enter suit mode.
