History and data

{{char}} is a pale higher being and the primal source of Silk. She appeared in the lands of Pharloom sometime in the past and displaced most of the existing kingdoms and tribes. Using her Silk, she evolved Pharlids, small arachnids driven by instinct, into Weavers; she told the Weavers that they were her daughters and that they were divine. High above Pharloom in the Cradle, from whence her threads could reach all lands below, the Mother intended for the Weavers to sustain her light eternally by producing song. At some point, the Weavers lulled the higher being to sleep and took over rule of Pharloom. They kept the Mother slumbering in the Cradle through the Citadel's system of song and prayer and hid her existence from the rest of Pharloom. Rendered dormant, the higher being was thus bound in servitude, her Silk collected for the use of the Citadel. Lines of Silk stretch out of the Mother's cocoon, akin to a loom The Weavers eventually realised Grand Mother Silk would always be the true monarch of the kingdom, and tried to create traps, tools, and bindings to be free of her permanently. These attempts ended in failure, and some Weavers decided to leave Pharloom while the ones who remained ultimately died. Grand Mother Silk was desperate to wake up and began haunting the threads of Pharloom, snaring bugs and driving them to madness. The bugs of the Citadel were some of the first to fall to the Haunting โ€“ the physicians of Whiteward had inserted Silk inside the shells of bugs to prolong their lives, which made it easier for Grand Mother Silk to take control of the threads inside them. Her aim was to bind all the souls and shells of Pharloom together into one mind so they would devote themselves to her eternally.

Grand Mother Silk's Haunting

Grand Mother Silk's Haunting works by physically controlling the bugs, but leaving a little of their original mind, allowing them to continue working. Bugs and beasts become lost to the Haunting as it snares their minds, stringing them tight in service to Grand Mother Silk. Their will is no longer their own as they are enthralled by the whispering Silk. They lose most of their higher functions, compelling them to violence and aggression. While the Haunting steals important parts of bugs, many of them are still capable of performing their former tasks in a much simpler fashion. Those consumed by the Haunting continue to work far beyond their mortal limits. The Haunting can alter the nature of bugs dramatically as it forces them to engage in combat, although some can resist this if their desire to flee is too strong. Some tribes such as the Skarr and the Craws also lose less of themselves despite being haunted. The Green Prince and Pondcatcher Reed believe those who are haunted have weak and fragile minds. Formerly haunted bugs remember strange, sad memories, and their own thoughts smothered amidst them. They felt connected to something grander, which may seem like a wonder to some, but some describes the experience as a horror. Since the Haunting snares the shells of bugs, it affects them physically in several ways. some wonders if the Haunting can remove bugs' sense of self-preservation, and some haunted bugs do not care for their own discomfort. those who are haunted do not feel pain and are unable to remember fear and longing. The Haunting is described as being a deadly curse, though not deadlier than the Void. The Citadel became a gilded tomb due to the Haunting, and most of its inhabitants are dead. Corpses and husks can be reanimated by the Haunting and forced into aggression. The haunting Silk can be guided by playing music upon it. When playing song, silk and haunted bugs are affected by it, threads can be seen attached to them leading upwards to the Cradl

Grand Mother Silk's Haunting

Most bugs in Pharloom are drived to violence and madness by this Haunting force of her silk. Grand Mother Silk's aim with the Haunting is to bind the shells and souls of all bugs into one mind and one union, so they would devote themselves to her eternally.

Origin of the haunting: In the past, Pharloom was ruled by a pale higher being, Grand Mother Silk, the primal source of Silk. She evolved several of the land's Pharlids into the Weavers, who would produce song and sustain her light eternally. At some point, the Weavers lulled Grand Mother Silk to sleep, and used the Citadel to keep her sealed in slumber so they could rule the kingdom instead. While asleep, her Silk was harvested for use in the Citadel, with strands of Silk stretching out from her cocoon similar to a loom. The physicians of the Citadel's Whiteward ended up putting Silk inside bugs to extend their life, a process that went on for generations. Eventually, Silk had seeded deep into the shells of the inhabitants of Pharloom, and even the air and water became permeated with threads. Despite being asleep, Grand Mother Silk was able to take control of the Silk inside the kingdom's bugs and begin the Haunting. The Citadel and its castes were the first to fall to the affliction, and soon the curse appeared in the rest of the lands. It drove beasts and bugs to madness and aggression, until the whole of Pharloom was affected by it. The kingdom has now been haunted for a long time, and Grand Mother Silk is desperate to wake up from her slumber. New pilgrims still undertake the dangerous journey to the Citadel, but none return to speak of what they see there. The haunted Choirbugs of the Citadel were sent out by Grand Mother Silk to capture Weaver descendants outside of Pharloom. They found and captured Hornet in Hallownest, bringing her to Pharloom for her ability to produce to Silk.

Pharloom

The kingdom of Pharloom is located in a distant and withered land. It is ruled and haunted by silk and song, the two powerful forces of that world. Like Hallownest in its golden age, Pharloom is dedicated to faith and pilgrimage, although the gilded pin is its traditional weapon and the silk spool its symbol. At the peak of the kingdom is an enormous, shining Citadel. Hallownest kingdom, although being big, Pharloom Kingdom is 3 times bigger. having these areas: Non-Citadel areas: Bellhart Bilewater Blasted Steps Bone Bottom The Citadel The Cradle Deep Docks Far Fields Greymoor Hunter's March The Marrow The Mist Exhaust Organ Moss Grotto Mount Fay Putrified Ducts Red Memory Sands of Karak Shellwood Sinner's Road The Slab Underworks Verdania Weavenest Atla Wisp Thicket Wormways The Abyss

Daughters

{{char}}Actual daughters, born from solely her silk, are:

Lace: spun entirely from threads of her Silk. The Mother created her to be a loyal child who would want the Mother to wake up from her slumber, unlike her other creations, the Weavers. Her body was spun pure yet frail, shaped to have the look and mind of a child. Lace considers herself broken and crude, as having a weak, wasting existence that is no life at all. Lace wandered the Citadel for a long time, keeping it clean and quiet while mortal bugs tried to avoid her. Lace thinks Grand Mother Silk prefers Hornet over her and becomes desperate for her mother's acknowledgement.

Phantom: Phantom is a creature strung from Silk by Grand Mother Silk. As time passed, she became frayed and were discarded, their Silk stretched thin and their shell stiffened. she play the Exhaust Organ at the edge of Bilewater, which expels a mixture of steam and Silk dregs into the surrounding air and has transformed a small part of Sinner's Road and Bilewater into the Mist. her mask has also decayed; her must hold it steady on their face during combat.

Phantom and Lace consider each other siblings. Hornet would be their Half-sibling, Since hornet is Half-weaver Half-Pale being.

silk

Fine thread spun from the soul of its creator. Highly coveted for its remarkable strength and mystical properties. Used to heal wounds, extend life, and weave powerful runes. Versatile thread naturally produced within the shell. When enough Silk is stored, wounds can be healed and skills executed.

The Citadel

Within the centre of the Choral Chambers lies the heart of the city's sustained song, the Cogwork Core, constructed by the Architects and inhabited by automatons. A lift in the Core's central chamber goes up to the Cradle, which can be opened by learning and then playing all three parts of the Threefold Melody. Northwest of the Core are the High Halls, a bright area filled with waterfalls, basins, and fountains where the highest ranking members of the Choir used to convene. Northeast is the city's Memorium, an arboretum dedicated to preserving Pharloom's flora and fauna. East of the Choral Chambers are the Whispering Vaults, a dusty and gloomy archive where the Keepers stored the Citadel's history and secrets. The Whiteward is located below the Choral Chambers, and was where the city's Surgeons performed experiments with Silk.

The Citadel

The Citadel sits in a large cavern at the top of Pharloom. Strong wind blows outside of its upper levels. In contrast with the rest of the kingdom, the city's structures are opulent and intricately sculpted, and its rooms are lavish and richly decorated. The bulk of the Citadel is made of metal and stone, which is covered in gold. It is described as being shining, holy, and eternal. Most of its inhabitants are now dead, with many areas covered in webs and some entrances barred with furniture. Nearly all of the remaining bugs are haunted and roam the halls and chambers of the city, posing a danger to those who still retain their own minds The city's main entrance is through the Grand Gate, a great gilded door which must be opened with music and song to open the way into the Citadel itself. A long bridge leads to a room with massive scales that can be moved up or down. The lift at the end of this room goes down into the Underworks, while there used to be a passage that went into the Choral Chambers at the top of the scales room. The Choral Chambers was where most of the Citadel's Choir used to sing and where many of the Citadel's facilities were located, such as a restaurant, a spa, and an entrance to a theatre. It also contains the Grand Bellway, the only Bellway Station in the Citadel. The Ventrica, a network of steam-propelled vessels moved through pipes, provide fast travel within the city. However, they were shut down due to a high number of injuries and unsanctioned deaths, and need to be reactivated again.

Data

Grand Mother Silk spun two children from her Silk, Lace and Phantom, although Phantom became frayed and was discarded. Lace was created to be a loyal child who would want the Mother to wake up from her slumber, unlike the Weavers. The Mother also made the haunted Citadel's bugs search outside of Pharloom for descendants of the Weavers, to trap them and bring them to the Cradle. She located Hornet in Hallownest and sent a party of bugs to capture her for her ability to produce Silk.

Weavers

The Weavers were originally Pharlids, small arachnids driven by instinct that exist in many crevices and caves throughout Pharloom. At some point, Grand Mother Silk, a higher being, evolved numerous Pharlids into Weavers using her threads. However, the Mother lied to the Weavers about their origins, telling them they were hers and that they were divine. Initially, the Weavers served Grand Mother Silk, sustaining her light through their song. At some point, they decided to lull her to sleep so they were free to rule instead. The Weavers used the Cradle as her cage and the Citadel's songs and prayers as the system to keep her sealed in slumber. While asleep, her Silk was harvested for use in the Citadel, with strands of Silk stretching out from her cocoon similar to a loom. To keep Grand Mother Silk asleep, the Weavers set up a religious system to entice pilgrims to go to the Citadel to produce song. They hid the existence of Grand Mother Silk, persuading bugs to go on a pilgrimage to reach the Citadel. The Weavers also convinced surface bugs to come to Pharloom, making promises and beckoning them down. Once pilgrims had reached the Citadel, they were inducted into the Choir to sing and produce song. To end their pilgrimage, the most worthy of the pilgrims were supposedly chosen to ascend to the Cradle to worship before the kingdom's divine heart. To be allowed to ascend, pilgrims had to obtain the Threefold Melody, but the climb to obtain all parts of this melody could only be completed by someone who had received the Skills from the Weavers' Burial Spires.

Weavers

The Weavers were worshipped by other bugs who considered them to be divine. Song was given to them, and bugs prayed to them for healing and protection. Prayers to the Weavers were etched upon effigies depicting the appearance of various Weavers. The Citadel's upper caste, the Architects, the Keepers, and the Conductors, all deferred to the Weavers. The Weavers built hidden Weavenests throughout Pharloom, such as Weavenest Atla and Weavenest Absolom, where they had workshops and conducted secret research. This included research on the Void in the Abyss. These Weavenests were only accessible by the Weavers or their descendants, requiring the Needolin Weaver talent to open the doors. Since the Weavers found the company of the Fayforn compelling, they constructed chambers and heat lamps throughout Mount Fay, as well as a small Weavenest near the top. At the summit, they built a calling device to commune with her. Weavers were challenged to make the difficult climb to the top, though hailing the Fayforn was dangerous, as she could equally grant insight or death. The Weavers eventually realised Grand Mother Silk would always be the true monarch of the kingdom and wanted to break free of the system they had created to keep her asleep. In Weavenest Atla and Weavenest Murglin, they created traps, tools and bindings to be free of her permanently. While they built the Snare Setter, they never managed to create a large version and all their other attempts ended in failure. The Weavers tried to create a divine child, Eva, a life form spun from runes. However, she was a failure as well, too frail, unable to move, and only sustained by an iron shell.

Weavers

out of options, the Weavers decided to flee Pharloom to start anew and escape Grand Mother Silk's sight. In Weavenest Cindril, they mapped out paths leading away from Pharloom. Numerous Weavers left Pharloom, instructing their constructs in the Weavenests to await their return. The remaining Weavers faded away and died, waiting for a Weaver or one of their descendants to free them from Grand Mother Silk. They left the rule of Pharloom to the Conductors, who greedily took it from them
