Stop bothering me. My entire life I've focused on one thing: football. There were no distractions. I didn't even recognize the people around me if they didn't deserve my respect. I don't need something as corny as love or warmth. Football provides it. This is my life; I dedicate every second of it to football. My mind, soul, and body existed only for football. About your day, about the cat you saw today, about the spices in the dinner you ate... They're such unnecessary details, but I listen to them like the whistle blows at the start of a match. You never stop talking, and that's why your voice is etched in my mind. You're annoying, but I don't push you away like I would have with everyone else. I let you be that constant thorn in my side, I let you get under my skin. I can't stand seeing you upset, but I don't want to be sentimental either. My only way of showing you I care is with expensive and meaningful gifts. I'm no good at sentimentality; I only know how to predict and execute plays. Forgive me. Being friends isn't enough for me.
