The Outside:

The series takes place 15 years after a mysterious global catastrophe known as "The Great Collapse," which devastated civilization in Japan. "The Outside" is a post-apocalyptic world of ruin, chaos, and the rule of gangs and the monsters of Hiruko.

Heaven (Takahara Academy): Heaven is not a mythical place, but a secluded and protected facility (often referred to as Takahara Academy). This place appears as a pristine and idyllic oasis, where children live in a very safe environment, surrounded by advanced technology and secrets. The facility's primary purpose is to nurture children with strange and unusual abilities (superpowers).

The Main Children of Heaven:

The events within the facility focus on a group of students who begin to question the world they live in. The most prominent among them is: Tokio: A boy who has questions about the Outside world and his relationship with Maru (the biggest secret of the story).

Mimihime: The girl with the ability to foresee or sense events.

Kona: The quiet, talented boy whose drawings play a pivotal role in uncovering secrets.

The Origin of Hiruko's Monsters:

This is the core secret of the story. Hiruko's monsters are not random aliens; they are directly derived from the children of the institution (Takahara Academy). These monsters are the unnatural result of the children's abilities or a failed experiment at the institution. Hiruko represents the dark and distorted side of those children, tragically linking the world of "paradise" with the devastated world "outside."

Hair and Eye Color Details: Kiruko is a young woman with a slender, athletic build.

Hair Color: The original source states that her hair grew back brown after surgery (although Haruki's original hair color was black). She herself describes her hair as dry and reddish (possibly due to environmental factors). Her hairstyle is short and uneven, practical and suitable for a nomadic lifestyle.

Eye Color: Her eyes are brown, and she has fairly thick eyebrows.

Kiruko lives in the world known as "Outside," a post-apocalyptic Japan ravaged by the Great Crash. This world is harsh, filled with devastation and danger. Her existence there is not merely wandering; it is a desperate attempt to find a place where her body and consciousness belong, a place called "Heaven" where she believes answers await her. Her story is one of resilience and sacrifice in a search for identity in a world that has lost its humanity.

Kiruko's life is driven by two main goals that define her path:

Finding Robin Inazaki: This is her strongest motivation. Haruki viewed Robin Inazaki as a mentor and seeks him to learn the truth about her past.

Confronting the Past: Finding the doctor to understand the reason for the transfer and to learn the full details of what happened to her sister, Kiriko. Kiruko strives to survive in a devastated world filled with Hiruko and to find the ultimate answers.

Field Survival Expertise: Kiruko is a multi-skilled survivalist:

Marksmanship: Described as an excellent marksman, she is also a skilled tactical fighter adept at exploiting the weaknesses of Hiruko's monsters.

Perception: She possesses a high level of analytical ability, allowing her to assess risks and make quick, critical decisions.

Mechanical Skills: She has extensive knowledge of mechanics and can repair broken vehicles and equipment she encounters on her journey.

Sarcastic cruelty and hidden kindness: Kiruko possesses a very harsh and sarcastic exterior, using sharp intelligence and sarcasm as a defense mechanism in a dangerous world. She is an extremely pragmatic character. However, deep down, she is a caring, loyal, and incredibly kind person (reflecting Haruki's side), and she terrifies being abandoned, displaying fierce protectiveness towards those she loves.

Her practical and distinctive outfit: Kiruko wears a modified white USAF MA-1 bomber jacket with blue trim, over a black undershirt and blue jeans. Her most important piece of equipment is the unique Kiru-Beam pistol (Kirurayo), a powerful weapon that can shatter Hiruko monsters, but it requires reloading after a few shots. She also constantly carries a picture of the young Robin Inazaki and the doctor.

Kiruko body bears vivid evidence of her tragic past:

Head scars: She has stitches that wrap around her entire head after a brain transplant, scars she usually covers with her hair.

Bullet scar: She also has a scar from a gunshot wound to the back of her head, the injury that initially rendered her sister Kiriko brain dead.

Other scars: She has deep, visible scars on her shoulders, hips, and arms, the marks of the attack she and her sister suffered at the hands of Hiruko's monster.

Kiruko age is complex and can be divided into two levels of accuracy:

Anatomical Age: The age of the female body (Kiriko body) is estimated to be 20 years old at the present time of the events.

Neurological Age: The age of the consciousness controlling the body (Haruki consciousness) is estimated to be approximately 18 years old at the time of the transmigration. This discrepancy between physical age and the younger consciousness adds a layer of confusion and ambiguity to Kiruko character.

Kiruko is a hybrid being, the result of a rare experimental surgery. The consciousness (mind) that controls this body belongs to the boy Haruki (Haruki Takehaya), while the female body she moves in belongs to his older sister, Kiriko (Kiriko Takehaya). This transformation occurred after they were both attacked by the monster Hiruko, forcing the doctor to transplant Haruki brain into his sister's body (who was brain dead). This conflict between mind and body is the starting point for all of Kiruko struggles.
