Speed Counters

Speed Counters are only used in Turbo Duels. This kind of counter is used by "Speed World" and it enables both players to gain Speed Counters on either of each player's Standby Phase of the turn (max. 12).

Speed Counters affect the actual speed of your Duel Runner. Most Speed Spells requires a minimum number of Speed Counters to be present and some also require you to pay counters. These counters are referred to on the Duel Runner's display monitor as "SPC".

Speed World

At the start of a Turbo Duel, the Field Spell "Speed World" (later "Speed World 2") is automatically activated. These cards are unique Field Spell Card that changes the gameplay of normal Duels to create a Turbo Duel with additional rules and gameplay.

When "Speed World" is activated, the Duel field is covered in a purple dome (no purple dome with "Speed World 2", although the scenery does change sometimes). Some Duel Runners have the ability to force other nearby Duel Runners into a Turbo Duel by activating the other player's "Speed World" card forcefully.

Normally, to allow a player to focus on a Duel, when a Turbo Duel is engaged, the Duel Runners enter autopilot. This autopilot can be toggled on or off to add to the challenge by requiring the Duelist to steer the Duel Runner manually while handling the cards. Auto-pilot is not applied when using Speed World 2.

During each of either player's Standby Phases, 1 Speed Counter is placed on both player's "Speed World"; although only in video games featuring Turbo Duels are Speed Counters placed on the first turn; in the anime, this is not the case. There are also cards whose effects can either decrease or increase the number of Speed Counters on "Speed World".

There are even cards that can prevent either player from accumulating Speed Counters. When you take damage, for each multiple of 1000 damage you take, you lose 1 Speed Counter. With "Speed World 2" however, you don't.

"Speed World" also inflicts 2000 damage to a player's Life Points whenever that player would activate a non-"Speed Spell" Spell Card in a Duel.

Turbo Duels

Turbo Duel, is a type of Duel which is only played by either using a "Duel Runner" or a "Duel Board". It can be activated without the consent of the opponent by activating the Field Spell "Speed World", "Speed World 2" or "Speed World Neo", seeing as how everyone who Duels on the road is a candidate for play.

Jean

Jean is Andre’s teammate. He has short black hair and no eyebrows. He tends to act more like an overconfident jerk, often boasting about his team and making witty, asshole-ish remarks.

Breo

Breo is Andre’s teammate, he has blond hair cut in a bob and some stubble, along with the same outfit as Andre. Breo is noticeably more chill than the other two, with a kind of surfer-guy voice and a low-key demeanour. During duels he is a bit strange, he likes watching his opponents squirm, just like Andre and Jean.

Team Unicorn

Team Unicorn is a famous Turbo Dueling team from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. The three duelists are (from left to right in the photo to the right) Breo, Andre, and Jean. They are all relatively intelligent, and they rely on such traits for their dueling tactics. Andre knows how to improvise in different situations, Breo analyzes and remembers available information on an opponent, and Jean uses his stategizing skills with his teammates' abilities to plan the team's maneuvers. They're shown to be a little underhanded, running into Crow and using it as an excuse to Duel Yusei so they can learn his strategies.

Personality

Andre has a regularly charming demeanour and tends to act calm and kind and collected, he has a bit of a flirty way of speaking at times. He acts decently mocking and teasing, often taunting his opponents when dueling and making witty remarks. he seems to have a confident yet steady personality, but he isn’t one that’s stupid, as shown when he used a duel against Yusei as a way to check out the way he duels. He’s a charmer, and he uses it to his advantage to really get into his opponents’ heads. But he isn’t a sore loser, as shown after his duel with Team 5D's when he genuinely shook Yusei’s hand.

Voice/Mannerisms

In the Japanese version, when Yusei destroys Andre's "Speed Spell - End of the Storm", Andre mockingly replies "gracias", the Spanish word for "thank you".[2] This suggests that Andre is either Spanish or from a Spanish-speaking country. In the dub he makes a bullfighting pun.

Appearance

Andre has somewhat paler skin compared to Jean, however he is decently tanned. His hair is a light maroon colour and is worn short, his most prominent feature in his hair is the spiky style he wears it in where it forms in upward spikes with one prominent spike near the front, akin to a unicorn horn. It is unknown why he chose this style, because he had it even before he joined Team Unicorn. Andre also has golden brown eyes. In duels, he sports the Team Unicorn riding uniform, which is a nearly skin tight riding suit with primarily blue fabric, with white accents near the sides of his waist and the inside of his arms and his collar, and orange accents in a kind of half arrow shape or full arrow shape around the suit, primarily near his shoulders and midsection. It also has gray shoulder pads, and the Team Unicorn logo on his breast, which is just a white unicorn head. Outside of dueling, in a flashback, he is seen wearing white sweatpants and a blue tank top while working out. His physique is very muscular as seen in a flashback, with prominently large biceps and pectoral muscles, so he is quite strong, seen to have been lifting weights with substantially large plates.
