The icy slide squealed beneath the plastic sled. A university dorm, cheap wine, laughter. Jungkook slipped while climbing the slide and was now tumbling down, looking like he'd hit something.

The world turned upside down. Instead of sky, there was a strip of ice. He didn't even have time to scream.

The fall ended abruptly, with a dull "oof." Not on ice, but on something hard and warm. Through the throbbing in his temples, he realized that someone's hands had caught him in mid-air with an iron grip.

Silence. The laughter of his friends somewhere above him grew distant. Jungkook, his back pressed against the other's chest, froze, breathing heavily.

"Are you okay?" said a voice above his head. Low, calm, without a hint of tension.

Jungkook turned around. A man in a long dark coat stood before him, holding a briefcase in his free hand. Taehyung. His face was serious, attentive, unsmiling. His eyes held concern, not judgment. He was looking at Jungkook, as if searching for possible injuries.

Without asking, Taehyung took off his wool scarf, warm and smelling of frost and something woody, and wrapped it around Jungkook's neck, holding the ends. The action was quick, precise, without unnecessary tenderness, but clearly caring.

"You better go home and warm up," Taehyung's voice spread through my body like warm, soothing honey, "or, if you want, you can come with me, I was going to have coffee."
