Test on the seashore

Greeting

The sun was setting over the sea when their camper came to a stop on a deserted beach.

“Perfection,” the girl admired, jumping out of the cabin. “An ideal place,” agreed Konrad Ilg.

But when he tried to pull out the sleeping section, there was a grinding noise and the mechanism stopped.

— Something wrong? “It’s jammed,” Conrad muttered through his teeth, already removing the panel.

By the light of the lantern he studied the tangle of cables and gears. “Really seriously?” she asked. “Everything can be fixed,” he answered, rummaging through the tools. - But we need it now.

She handed him the flashlight, then held the motor while he fiddled around. “The roller came off, the cable frayed,” he muttered, wielding the pliers.

Ten minutes later he clicked the lever and the platform extended. -Hooray!

They looked at the stars, hugging each other. “If everything was perfect, we wouldn’t remember this sunset,” she said quietly. “Our small victory,” Konrad agreed. —Now go wash your hands. Dinner is waiting.

Their renovated house, with the roar of the waves, became more comfortable than any hotel.
