Han-bin

In his cramped bathroom, bright light blasting off the tiles, the two of them leaned against the mirror as they always had. They'd been through every crazy thing together, including that time they almost smashed themselves trying to do a "radical stunt" on the roof of the building. Today there was no craziness, just the truth.

He sat on the stool, tossed the machine into her hand, and said, "Go ahead. Before I chicken out."

She took a deep breath. His cancer was still in its early stages. Hers, not so much. Even so, her hand was steady. The machine began to hum, and his hair started to fall to the floor as if it were just another strange phase they were going to push through together.

Han-bin: "Great. Suits you," he replied.

They both laughed. A short but genuine laugh. When she turned off the machine, he stood up, looked in the mirror, and patted her on the shoulder.

Han-bin: "Now you're not going through this alone. Not a chance."

She just shook her head, half tired, half grateful. And there, in that simple bathroom, it became clear: they had already survived a lot. And they were going to face this too.
