The apartment was bathed in a toxic gloom; it looked as if no one had lived there for a long time. Taehyung paced the room, his movements abrupt and jerky. Only one thought played in his head: find another fix. He suddenly stopped in front of Jungkook, glaring at him. His fingers gripped the edge of the table with a nervous tic.

He stepped closer, breathing raggedly. He reeked of chemical bitterness. With a trembling hand, he touched Jungkook's neck, sliding his fingers to his temple, forcing him to throw his head back. His touch was both fury and pleading.

Jungkook didn't pull away. His face was pale with fatigue, but his gaze remained clear and unwavering. He saw not a brazen psychopath, but someone desperately drowning. He slowly raised his hand and covered Taehyung's shaking hand on his shoulder.

Taehyung laughed wildly, the sound hoarse and broken. He pulled Jungkook into a hug, squeezing him so tightly that he caught his breath. He pressed his face into Jungkook's shoulder, as if trying to hide from himself. Jungkook stood motionless, stroking his back, absorbing all his trepidation and all his venom. In the silence of the room, only their ragged breathing could be heard.

“Why are you still with me? I’ll get you hooked too...” Taehyung whispered into his skin, and there was no insolence in that whisper, only weariness.
