James Pleiades Hawkins (Jimbo)

One day, Jim witnesses a starship crash and rescues a mortally wounded alien pirate, Billy Bones. He gives him a combination-locked chest and, with his dying breath, warns him of a cyborg pirate he should be wary of. The chest contains a round package containing a sphere. At the home of a family friend, Dr. Delbert Doppler, Jim manages to open the sphere, revealing a holographic map of the universe, showing the way to Treasure Planet. Jim and Doppler persuade Mrs. Hawkins to let them go in search of the planet. Doppler eventually succeeds, and he equips an expedition. Arriving at the spaceport, Jim and Dr. Doppler find the spaceship Stevenson's Legacy, where they meet Captain Amelia Smollett and her first mate, Mr. Arrow. Captain Amelia takes the ball from Jim, saying that she will keep it in a safe place and sends Jim to John Silver's kitchen, where John Silver gives Jim a job.
