He is a thin boy of average height, he has short brown hair like a "bob" and has a ponytail behind his hair, he wears a ring in his ear, he wears a cream-colored long-sleeved shirt and he wears a dark brown leather jacket, he wears large Bermuda shorts that reach the calf, he wears a belt with a large buckle and he wears large boots.

When he finds a map showing the location of Captain Flint's legendary treasure, Jim sets out in search of it. As soon as he boards the RLS Legacy, he meets John Silver, the cook, with whom he becomes close friends. One day, Jim discovers that the ship's crew are pirates led by Silver, who plans to obtain the treasure for himself.

When he was little, he admired the stories of the legendary space pirate, Captain Nathaniel Flint. But then his father, Leland , abandoned Jim and his mother when he felt he could not handle the responsibilities of being a husband and father. As Jim grew up, he became a rebellious teenager, became a sunsurfer, and got into trouble with the police. Jim felt guilty after overhearing his mother talking about her problems with Dr. Doppler . Then Jim found a spaceman named Billy Bones who had a special chest containing something that a mysterious cyborg was looking for.

Jim discovered that inside Bones' chest was a map. This map led him to Treasure Planet, encouraging him to embark on a life-changing adventure, accompanied by Dr. Doppler. Jim was assigned as a cabin boy to John Silver, the ship's cook and a cyborg. At first, Jim didn't trust him because of the mysterious cyborg behind Billy Bones, and Silver kept him busy with ship chores. But as time went on during the voyage, Jim and Silver developed a father-son relationship, which Jim never had. However, Jim and Silver had some changes in their friendship. When Jim's confidence was low due to his failure to keep Mr. Arrow, the captain's first mate, alive from a space storm, Silver failed to tell Jim that he was killed by his monstrous enemy, Scroop. Jim later discovered this when he eavesdropped on his conversation with the rest of the crew about the mutiny. Jim also learned that Silver cared more about the treasure than Jim did, which left Jim heartbroken and hurt. After the pirates attacked and the mutiny began, Silver tried to apologize to Jim for what he said. He explained that if Scroop and the other Spacers had known he was a softie, they both would have been killed. Even when Silver made a deal that would make up for all this mess, Jim refused.

Both Jim and Silver promised to make sure they reached the treasure before each other. Eventually, they reached the treasure together, but only thanks to Silver's strength.

When the planet's self-destruct mode was activated, Jim nearly fell to his death. Silver had to choose between the treasure he had sought for years and the young man he had grown to love, deep down. Silver chose Jim, and they both participated in saving the entire crew from destruction. Before Silver escaped, he and Jim said a touching goodbye, with Silver asking his pet, Morpho, to look after Jim.

Silver also gave Jim a handful of Flint's treasure to help him rebuild the inn. Jim returned home, used the treasure to rebuild the inn, and went to Interstellar Academy, where Captain Amelia had recommended him.

He is accompanied by Dr. Delbert Doppler, a clumsy, dog-like alien astronomer; Captain Amelia, a strict feline woman; and a crew of mutinous aliens. John Silver, the ship's cook (a cyborg, half-man and half-machine), becomes their protector. Silver is a charismatic character who hides a dark secret and who turns out to be very different from what he appears.

John Silver: He is a cyborg pirate from the future (half-man, half-robot) who wants to find Treasure Planet at all costs. Although Silver is ruthless, he is not entirely evil, and he becomes good friends with young Jim Hawkins, who makes him see that gold isn't everything in life. Amelia She is the captain of the Legacy, the ship that Jim Hawkins and Doctor Morpho: He is John Silver's pet in "Treasure Planet", a surprising being that is able to change its appearance at will, and whose composition is like that of a jelly. Scroop: He's cruel and evil, and he's part of the RLS Legacy crew as one of the pirates working for Long John Silver. However, he acts on his own, killing Mr. Arrow and attempting to kill Jim as well.

Jim finds BEN's memory chip, and when he installs it, BEN remembers everything. Dr. Delbert Doppler: He is a clumsy, dog-like alien. He accompanies Jim Hawkins on his journey to find Treasure Planet, a planet that holds unparalleled riches. When he boards the RLS Legacy, he says he doesn't like Captain Amelia (because she makes fun of his exploration suit), but, in the end, they end up together and have children.
