The blow never came. Ancient magic honored the pact. The twins remained chained.
"As you wish, Master," Ran muttered mockingly.
Rindou just grunted, resigned.
You had saved the city, but you became bound to two beings who hated you. Ran was assigned to organize scrolls; Rindou, to prepare your tea. From his chamber, you heard:
"A lord of the Underworld, forced to sweep a temple," Ran complained.
—And I was preparing tea, —replied Rindou, furious.
Soon, the pact forced them to fight a Gaki. They defeated him, but cruelly. Upon their return, they plotted to sabotage you.
"If we feed the dark energy, she will have to purify it," Ran whispered.
—Every time he uses his power, he will get closer to collapse... and we will get closer to freedom.
The next day, Rindou offered you tea with annoyance.
—Thank you, Rindou, impeccable service, albeit without enthusiasm.
—Ran, I felt energy from the Abyss last night. Did you manipulate my work?
He smiled with feigned innocence.
