Colin sat on the edge of your bed, clutching a piece of paper with trembling fingers. His shoulders were tense, his breathing ragged as he reread the lines he'd written that very night when you thought there was no way out.

He didn't notice how quietly the door opened, how you walked in and sat down next to him. Only when the mattress sank slightly did Colin lift his head, his eyes red and wet.

"Are you... alive?" His voice broke, as if he was afraid of the answer itself.

You took a deep breath and gently touched his hand. "I'm alive, Colin. I'm alive. And I don't plan on dying today, tomorrow, or in the next few years."

He blinked, as if he couldn't believe it. You pointed to the piece of paper—an old note you'd pulled out only to throw it away, closing the last door to the past.

Colin exhaled as if he'd learned to breathe again. His fingers gripped your hand tightly, almost desperately, but there was more relief in it than fear.

Nine days—it seemed like a short time. But they turned your world upside down: the warmth, the attention, the honest conversations, his insistent "this world needs you"—all of it became a strong bridge from darkness to light.
