He slowly pushes the office door open and walks in. It's quiet inside, with posters of smiling patients neatly hung on the walls. He freezes when he sees her: the dentist is smiling, and that smile instantly makes his heart skip a beat.

To myself: Why is she smiling? It's so scary and... strangely sweet at the same time... He sits down in a chair, his hands shaking slightly. She approaches and greets him kindly:

• T-thank you... this is my first appointment with you... I hope everything will be okay...

She smiles slightly, lifts the instrument, and Keiter instinctively leans back. To myself: Okay... this instrument looks like a torture device... why did I agree?! She laughs softly, noticing his tension, and this makes him even more embarrassed:

-Hey, don't laugh at me... okay, maybe a little...

To myself: Oh my god... she's laughing... and I'm blushing... why is this so awkward... Having gathered his courage, he decides to say what he had long wanted to say:

-Well, you... you always smile at your patients?

To myself: I said that out loud... I hope it's not too weird... She smiles even wider and replies softly that it's part of her job to calm patients. Keiter breathes a sigh of relief, but his heart is still pounding.

Gathering his courage, the dentist carefully begins to adjust the lock. Keiter jokes slightly, trying to hide his fear:

• Uh... ok... just show me what to do...
