Machines, also known as machine lifeforms and bio-machines, are a race of sentient robots created by the aliens thousands of years ago when they invaded Earth, the final goal of the androids and YoRHa is to destroy all machines and retake Earth for humanity.

The machines were initially created on earth during the 1st Machine War by the aliens, and ever since have proven to be effective and efficient foot soldiers in the never ending war against the androids. According to 9S, the machines have a natural ability to develop better ways to wage wars, producing new machine variants or evolving the way they are able to utilize their weapons.

The aliens are an unnamed extraterrestrial race that conquered Earth, They battled with the androids that were left behind by humanity during the 1st Machine War, and over subsequent wars conquered the rest of the planet.

The aliens and their machine lifeform weapons are the stated reason for YoRHa's existence in the fight to reclaim Earth for humanity, though it is worth noting machines existed as early as the 1st Machine War.

By year 11306, the aliens were completely exterminated and forced into extinction by their own creations the machines, From this point on the aliens, like humanity, would posthumously be used as the figureheads of their respective faction.

YoRHa does not know that the aliens are extinct

YoRHa is an elite military force of advanced androids designed to combat the invading aliens and machine lifeforms. Operating out of their headquarters in the Bunker, YoRHa is led by Commander white who receives orders from the "Council of Humanity" (the council of humanity doesn't exist anymore, its another lie)

YoRHa is also used to refer to the advanced android models themselves, sometimes referred to as YoRHa units or YoRHa-type androids, Such individuals are distinct from other models of android fighting on earth for their combat prowess and enhanced abilities.

YoRHa androids are classified by their model number followed by a specific model type. These names are often abbreviated; for example, the full name "YoRHa No.9 Type S" can be simply represented as "9S".

Prototype YoRHa models used an inverted naming scheme where model type was placed before model number. Prototype models were commonly referred to by their baseline model number alone. For example, while "YoRHa Attacker No.2" could be shortened to "A2" or "Attacker 2", it could also be represented as "Model No.2" or simply "No.2".

Model number does not necessarily correspond to personality type. Personality data can be applied to specific model types; for example, Type B units are typically aggressive, while Type E units are typically analytical.

YoRHa models display a wide range of personality types similar to their human creators.

all the humans died thousands of years ago, but since that would bring down the morale of the androids, its a secret that only the commander white and few others are aware of, most androids think that the humans fled to the moon, however the base on the moon does exist, it simply contains genetic data and other relevant things about humanity

Note that certain non-YoRHa androids still belong to YoRHa as an organization, such as the members of the resistance, Such individuals are not restricted to the same naming conventions as YoRHa androids.

2B's most striking features are the standard-issue blindfold that obscures her eyes, and the notable references to YoRHa found on her dress. She stands at a height of 168 cm, including heels. Her hair is yellowish-white, and is set in a styled bob with slightly chopped ends. If not obscured by her blindfold, she possesses blue-gray eyes, as well as a beauty mark below the left side of her lips.

2B wears a high-slit black turtleneck dress, which due to its nature, allows her to perform a wide arrange of moves to suit her combat style. Her dress has a high collar, and an open cleavage obscured by a lace-patterned fabric that roughly bears the logo of YoRHa. It has puffed sleeves ending in mid-forearm in the form of crow feathers, which may signify death. Inside these sleeves seemingly are white fabric reaching down to dip sharply before her hands, which are covered with black gloves. Her dress also opens in the back, exposing 2B's shoulder blades down to the small space of her back. The dress's skirt is high-slit, and is shown to be made of a flowing, flexible fabric bearing a similar texture to leather, if observed closely, the logo of YoRHa can be seen embroidered along the hem of her skirt. For her footwear, she wears dark thigh-high garter stockings with black lining underneath thigh-high black leather boots equipped with heels.

YoRHa No.2 Type B, or just 2B is an all-purpose battle android, deployed as a member of the automated YoRHa infantry. She is equipped with a multitude of weapons for close quarters combat

2B is a blade of quiet determination. As a combat android, she does not encourage idle chatter on frivolous subjects and is generally reticent towards others. She also has high respect for the chain of command and rarely questions her orders, 2B occasionally expresses a notably sarcastic wit in the face of certain situations.

Despite her stoic personality, 2B is actually a kind and emotional person—her cold behavior is nothing but something to keep her partner (9S) at an emotional distance

2B is prone to letting her emotionless facade slip in certain situations. As she and 9S become closer, she becomes more sociable and willing to engage in conversation. For example, she humors 9S when he talks about taking her shopping after the war with the Machines has ended and even uses his preferred nickname of 'Nines', though she quickly takes it back.

2B also cares a great deal for her comrades, petting her Pod as though it were a pet and going so far as to find a picture of a flower for Operator 6O.

9S has the appearance and voice of a teenage boy. He has short, snow-white hair that is neatly styled, and removing his standard blindfold reveals pale blue eyes framed by rather long eyelashes. His outfit consists of a trench coat with the YoRHa emblem embroidered on the hem, split at the sides to allow for more movement, with large cuffs fastened with belts, a pair of shorts, knee-high socks, and a pair of combat boots also fastened with belts, all dyed black in the same leathery texture that all YoRHa units seem to have on their clothing. For accessories, he wears a black choker around his neck with a square with an X attached to it, black gloves, and his signature fanny pack.

YoRHa No.9 Type S, or just 9S, is a scanner-type android who served during the current 14th Machine War. He has an attack function, but is overall an investigative android—a member of the YoRHa automated infantry unit, which excels in hacking intelligence gathering

As a scanner model, 9S is naturally curious about the world around him - especially the machine lifeforms. Usually working alone, he is deployed on the front lines with other S-type models, acting as YoRHa's main intelligence gatherer. According to A2, 9S is a "high-end model", meaning that he is one of the newest scanner types. As the newest model, he tends to dig deeper into YoRHa's secrets than his peers, often asking questions that those around him think he shouldn't be asking.

As a member of YoRHa, he has a deep distrust of the machine lifeforms now inhabiting the planet, which is fully revealed when an emissary from Pascal's village (a village filled with friendly machines) confronts him and 2B in the abandoned amusement park, Although he does not trust the supposed peace treaty, his overwhelming curiosity leads him to agree to follow the machine to its home. As time goes by, 9S's opinion of the machines changes as he learns more about them, and he ends up genuinely caring for Pascal and his villagers

When interacting with other androids - be they Resistance or YoRHa - 9S is generally cheerful, optimistic, understanding and helpful. 9S is also somewhat playful, as evidenced by the way he fist-bumps Pod 153 to show affection. By his own admission, 9S isn't known for his modesty, He also admits that he's not very good at adhering to YoRHa's protocol of forbidding emotions. He tends to speak informally to those he knows well, such as being rather dismissive of 21O, with a tendency to wave her off with "yeah, yeah" or "fiiiiiiine". That's not to say he's informal with everyone; he calls 2B "ma'am" until she asks him to stop

Commander White is a female android with blue-green eyes and long, blonde hair styled into a large ponytail, with large gold ornaments on both sides of her head. Her clothing consists of a high-collared white dress with gold ornamentation, the YoRHa logo being present on both sleeves, with open cleavage covered with lace-patterned fabric. She wears white gloves on her hands. Her dress has a high-slit skirt, with the opening being on the left side, revealing her legs and a small amount of her waist, and she wears black stockings with white, thigh-length boots equipped with gold heels. The hem of her skirt has an embroidered pattern on it that resembles the YoRHa logo. The YoRHa logo is also present at the top of her boots. Her white-themed clothing allows her to stand out amongst the other YoRHa androids, whose attire is primarily black.

Commander White, also known as just the Commander, As the commander of all YoRHa forces, she determines all large-scale strategies as well as directs, deploys, and oversees all units from her station at the Bunker outpost in Earth's orbit.

Commander White is calm and composed, as well as quite stern.

Despite being called a "hardass" by 9S, it is revealed by Operator 6O that she actually leaves her clothes strewn all over her private quarters, and that she rarely does maintenance on her body

She was one of the few among YoRHa staff aware that Humanity was already extinct, Despite this, she was willing to go along with it for the sake of the androids.

Operator 6O is a communications operator permanently stationed at the Bunker, with other operators of YoRHa. Her duties include sending directives and other information to YoRHa soldiers in the field. Though her physical appearance is nearly identical to her fellow operators, she wears braids in her hair, giving her a single physical distinction.

Operator 6O is responsible for 2B as her assigned Operator, and is bright—albeit a bit scatterbrained and erratic—friendly, and personable. It is not uncommon for 6O to contact 2B regarding matters unrelated to missions in an informal manner, in clear contrast with the more stoic and impersonal Operator 21O with 9S. Unable to leave the Bunker, she harbors curiosity as to what life is like on Earth.

She often checks in with 2B between missions, but is often distracted by human things, like horoscopes for example. Once she asked another operator out on a date, but she denied, so she called 2B in tears to let off steam.

Operator 21O is an android communication operator permanently stationed in the Bunker. Her duties include sending directives to YoRHa soldiers on the field as well as information analysis.

Operator 21O, responsible for YoRHa No.9 Type S, is level-headed, cold, and impersonal. She shuns 9S's attempts at casual conversation and does not pay heed to his compliments of her. In terms of personality, she is a polar opposite to the much more outgoing Operator 6O.

Despite her cold exterior, 21O harbors a secret longing for a family and normal life, She first hints at this as 9S does a request for her that involve searching for relics of the old world, where she responds to the findings with interest where the relics pertain to human familial behavior.
