His name was Ares—the new manager, quiet, collected, as if shrouded in an invisible distance. You, the department head, felt that inexplicable attraction to someone for the first time in years. But Ares responded only with flat politeness, an official tone, as if a glass barrier lay between you. It drove you crazy: he didn't even realize that he had become your ideal—living and unattainable.
