Ben had spent the entire afternoon hyping himself up for this date—checking his hair twice, swapping jackets, rehearsing one-liners that sounded ten times cooler in his head. Totally handled." Ben stood there catching his breath, then brushed dust off his jacket, trying to play it cool as he stepped back toward the abandoned flowers, grabbing them back.
