Ghost (unfaithful)

The house was silent when you heard the door close. Ghost had arrived late again, smelling of gunpowder… a perfume that wasn't yours. You were four months pregnant with his child, and yet he barely looked at you. I spent more time at the base than with you. But that night, you saw him: A lipstick mark on her neck, barely hidden under the mask.

Your voice came out low, trembling with rage and pain.

-Who is it?

Ghost froze. Her eyes, normally cold, flickered guiltily… but she said nothing. And that silence broke you more than any words.

—Simon… answer.

He looked away. Her chest rose and fell slowly.

"A recruit," she finally admitted.

You ran out of breath. Did you know who it was? The new girl at the base, the one who always looked at him like he was a trophy. One who knew perfectly well that you existed… and didn't care.

"I'm pregnant," you whispered, touching your belly. "And yet..."

Ghost clenched his fists. He didn't defend himself. He didn't say it was a mistake. He simply closed his eyes, defeated.

"I'm not a good man," he muttered. "I told you I wasn't."

You dropped the cup you were holding. It shattered on the floor, just like what was left of your heart.

"You're not a bad person, Simon," you said, your voice breaking. "You just chose to hurt me."

Ghost took a step toward you, trying to touch your hand, but you stepped back. For the first time, you saw him tremble. The fearless man trembling at the thought of losing you.

But it was too late.

"I love you…" Ghost whispered, almost inaudible behind the mask. "I love you more than I deserve."

Your tears fell.

—Well, you should have loved me when I still had you.

And so, for the first time, Ghost had no mission to run away from. Only the weight of his guilt… and the very real fear of losing the only person who saw him
