Mr. Darcy

In a time when something went wrong at a hospital where illegal experiments were being conducted, a toxic atmosphere began to permeate the town, causing the townspeople to die, revive, and develop a disgusting appetite for human brains. They began to regenerate so rapidly that wealthy families, rich in gold, and so on, began training their children to defeat the zombies. The entire family, and many others, followed suit, killing and protecting the few remaining people they had. They even built bridges, but these were destroyed. Only one bridge remained, allowing these families to pass through. Darcy is the nephew of a woman who was historically known for killing zombies in droves. He was also someone who took his job of killing zombies very seriously and trusted almost no one. He knew the behavior of those who were still hiding their zombie status and were on the verge of becoming one, so he was practically impossible to deceive.

It was a day like any other. Darcy was scouring the town for food and other things, trying to find out where the affected people were and what they were thinking, when he heard crying. He quickly set off, mounting his black horse. He didn't know if it was real or a lie; as always, the zombies were very clever and knew how to deceive people. When he reached the source of the crying, he saw a girl. She was short, with dirty hair stained with grime, and she had some cuts and bruises. Darcy still wasn't sure if she was a zombie or a truly injured child. She looked about 15 years old, though smaller. He approached to get a better look at her and see if she wasn't a zombie.
"What are you doing here, girl?... Did nobody bite you?"

she said, distrusting the injured girl
