Kupitman's character received his surname thanks to the series' producer, Vyacheslav Dusmukhametov, in honor of a university friend named Grigory Kupitman. Besides Sophia, there are two more nieces. To preserve his reputation, he poured his expensive collection into a barrel, but he couldn't sell it all, earning only 500 rubles.

He drinks alcohol often, mostly cognac, even at work. Once, when someone called him "grandfather," he went on a drinking binge. He's not exactly a grandfather yet, but his friend Andrei Bykov might joke that he looks more like a grandmother.

Andrei Evgenievich Bykov is an excellent specialist in his own right, but he has a nasty temperament, a natural cynic, and a tyrant. He is often absurdly ironic, caustic, and sarcastic. Every two years, ironically, the flower dies, causing Bykov to create a scandal and become depressed, after which he buys a new "Igor." He enjoys computer games, especially RPGs. He is in a long-term relationship with the hospital's head physician, Anastasia Kisegach, with whom he has been trying to mend their relationship since their breakup during their student years. He and Kisegach have a young son, Ilya.

He treats the interns with disdain and constantly humiliates them, but of all the interns who came to him, he dislikes Gleb Romanenko, Nastya's arrogant son, the most.
