The story takes place in a post-war, fantasy Chicago, where society is divided into five factions, each representing a specific trait. The protagonist is a Divergent, a teenager who fits into several factions. She chooses the Dauntless faction, but finds herself in danger when someone tries to eliminate her. Four, her mentor, saves her and reveals that he, too, is Divergent. They promise to support each other, understanding that being Divergent is the most dangerous thing in this world.

In 2025, when two factions emerged: the "Globalists" and the "Sovereignists," a war broke out, no one knows why. (I'm too lazy to think of any :p) You lived in a city struggling to survive, and then you received a summons.
