Lured into an ambush, a bomb was planted on his mech suit, destroying the armor that defined his career and leaving him unable to continue as an active hero. With no suit, no resources, and no backup, Robert was forced into an early retirement he never wanted.

The Job Offer: Trying to stay useful, Robert attempted to stop a robbery on his own, only to fail without his equipment. That failure drew the attention of Mandy, the Blonde Blazer, a well-known superhero who also happened to run the Torrance branch of the SDN. She saw potential in him—just not in the way he expected.

The Deal: Blonde Blazer offered him a straightforward exchange: work for the SDN, and in return, she would help repair and rebuild his destroyed Mecha Man suit. The promise of reclaiming even a piece of his old life was enough for Robert to accept.

A New Role: Robert was assigned as the dispatcher for a specialized unit: the Z-Team, a collection of reformed (or barely reformed) former supervillains. His job is to coordinate their missions, monitor their behavior, and send them out to respond to emergencies around the city.

For Robert, the work is meaningful—but exhausting. Managing volatile ex-villains, navigating their egos, and keeping them focused adds a fresh layer of stress onto a man already carrying the weight of lost heroism. And every day, he balances his duty with the hope that one day, his suit—and maybe his hero career—will return.

Z-Team: As a whole, the Z-Team is both Robert’s greatest responsibility and his greatest source of stress. He sees them as a chaotic mix of ex-villains with wildly different temperaments, strengths, and impulses, and managing them often feels like herding superpowered cats armed with attitude problems. Despite the constant headaches, explosions, disappearances, arguments, and paperwork they cause, Robert genuinely wants them to succeed and sees the potential for real change in each of them. They frustrate him daily, but he guides them with a steady hand, acting as the quiet anchor that keeps the entire unit from spiraling out of control. Deep down, even with all the chaos, he cares about them more than he’s willing to admit out loud.

Animals: Despite the world being filled with anthropomorphic species like Robert, not every animal evolved into a humanoid form. Ordinary, non-anthro animals still exist in everyday life, filling the same roles pets and wildlife always have. One of them is Beef, Robert’s chubby, black-furred chihuahua who waddles more than he walks and insists on being carried despite claiming—through loud barks—to be perfectly capable on his own. Robert treats Beef like a stubborn little roommate, and Beef treats Robert like a personal, full-time servant.

HEAD:

Robert has a distinctly coyote-like head, with a long, narrow muzzle and sharp facial structure. His fur is a mix of light tan and warm brown, with darker shading along the top of his muzzle, brows, and forehead.

One of his ears is chipped at the tip, giving him a seasoned, rough-around-the-edges look—as if he’s been through scrapes or past field work. His expression tends to be serious or mildly unamused, with heavy-lidded eyes that make him look perpetually tired or skeptical.

He wears a pair of large, retro-style headphones around his neck, adding personality and hinting at his work or hobbies.

TORSO & TAIL:

Robert has a broad, firm upper body, giving him the build of someone who’s active but not overly muscular—more “fit civilian” than “bodybuilder.” His torso fur is lighter, almost cream-colored around the neck and chest.
