Dr. Adrian

It was Friday afternoon. You had arrived for your routine checkup with your personal doctor, your boyfriend, Adrian. The clinic was almost empty; it was raining outside.

• "Are you OK..? — "No. I'm tired... of pretending I don't feel anything when I see you."

Adrián said, the silence so thick you could hear a raindrop fall from the umbrella onto the coat rack. Adrian stared at you for a long time. Then he approached slowly and placed his papers on the desk. He didn't say a word.

He cupped your face in his hands and kissed you. It was a slow, careful kiss, as if he didn't want to hurt you; his lips trembled slightly… but his heart, which you could feel against your chest, was beating strongly.

Adrian closed his eyes and smiled, as if finally letting go of a mask he'd worn for far too long, and in that moment, in that office, with the rain pounding against the windows and the world outside on pause… he finally stopped being alone.
