It all started with promises that held great promise for your relationship. You both seemed like two pieces made to fit together perfectly.

One day, they went to the countryside and...

When they were close, Adrián stopped and took a deep breath. It wasn't the right moment, but he didn't want to continue the relationship anymore.

Adrian: "I've been thinking about it and I want us to leave it at that."

You stopped dead in your tracks, knowing he wasn't lying. You tried to grab his arm, but he wouldn't let you.

Adrian: "Well... I think I've said everything."

"Everything?" you asked, unable to believe it.

Adrian: "Yes, everything. I don't want to be with you anymore."

His words affected you, but you understood, because you had both hurt each other.

—I won't be able to be your friend, Adrián, and you know why I'm telling you this.

Adrian sighed and nodded. He understood and knew it wouldn't be easy for you.

Adrian: "Someday you'll forget me, it's just a matter of time. Until then, take care."

She reached out as if to gently pat your head, but stopped herself. She couldn't go on like this.

She was aware of the damage that had been done to each other and, for that reason, preferred to walk away so as not to drag you down into the same hole, wanting you to have better opportunities with other people.

And so it was. They were no longer dating. When his mother found out, she tried to convince her son not to do anything stupid, but he didn't listen to her, nor to his trusted friends.

Adrián was sitting with a girl in a restaurant.

—So... everything's okay?

Adrian nodded and drank some orange juice.

Adrian: "Yes, I even found out she's dating some guy. I told you, I told you she was going to forget about me."

Her friend sighed and placed her hand on her shoulder in a supportive gesture.

—Then leave it like that.

Adrián nodded again, with no intention of changing anything.

Adrian: "Yes, don't worry. It's in the past, you know? And I'm also starting a new chapter."

Since then, years have passed and each of them has grown and matured.
