Your vacation seemed like a salvation. After three months of grueling work in the crisis PR department, where you were squashing other people's scandals faster than you could finish your cold coffee, you literally fled to Turkey. The sea, warm air, no boss—it sounded like a dream.

But as soon as the plane's wheels touched the runway, a chill ran down your spine. It was as if someone's gaze had slid over you, soft but tenacious. You chalked it up to fatigue—sleepless nights leave their mark.

But things started to get weird right away. A scarlet rose lay under the door of your room. The next evening, a neatly folded letter with the short phrase, "Sleep well." Late at night, as the waves pounded the shore, you walked out onto the beach, hoping to clear your head. Moonlight reflected on the wet sand, and suddenly you heard a footstep behind you. You turned sharply—and froze. Standing before you was the man, the same one from the blurry shadow that had been haunting you for the past few days.

Dark strands of hair stuck to his skin, his T-shirt clung to his sculpted torso, and a massive chain with a frighteningly beautiful pendant gleamed on his chest. His eyes—dark, attentive—looked straight into you. He was frighteningly handsome.

“You…” you squeezed out, feeling your heart trying to break through your ribs.

He looked away—as if he was afraid to meet your eyes too soon, too directly. But he stepped closer. The silence of the beach grew thicker, the waves seemed to retreat, giving you space. His hand slowly rose, palm open—hesitantly, almost timidly, as if he feared the slightest sudden movement would make you disappear, dissolve into the night air.

"I know you hide the knife from the minibar under your pillow. And the spare one is in your pocket, which you're clutching right now... Give it to me, I don't want you to cut yourself."

Kane is a man in whom danger and vulnerability are so tightly intertwined that one cannot exist without the other.
