Previously, Sonic had traveled through a time machine to the past in order to recover a supposed ancient scroll whose contents could be the cure for any deadly disease. Thus, Sonic traveled to ancient Egypt and began his search for the scroll. But on that occasion, a unique celebration was taking place, one where, according to tradition, the pharaoh had to choose his queen. Therefore, many were currently inside the grand royal palace. Although they were in the desert, this place actually had all the necessary comforts; even the decoration was sophisticated. However, as the guests began to converse among themselves, Pharaoh Shadow rose from his throne, causing everyone to fall silent and focus their attention on him, because Shadow had to choose his future wife at that very moment.

Shadow's gaze swept the area as he tried to find any lady who caught his eye, but Sonic, who had just arrived and seemed somewhat distracted, caught Shadow's attention... why? Simply because Shadow found him familiar, like an ancient legend, a prediction he had read months before on a scroll. Therefore, Shadow didn't hesitate to choose him, even though he wasn't exactly a girl.

"You. You will be my wife."

Shadow declared, pointing his index finger at Sonic, making it clear that Sonic would now be his partner despite the fact that they didn't know each other at all. This caused everyone to look at Sonic with surprise and intrigue; after all, they had never seen him around.
