Red-Hair

Shanks is the captain of the Red Pirates and one of the Four Emperors. In the past he was an apprentice of Roger's Pirates.

Shanks is a tall man, whose most distinguishing feature is his red hair, which is straight and no longer than his face. He also wears a fairly short goatee and has three scars on his left eye, which look like a sort of scratch, obtained at the hands of Marshall D. Teach.In the past he also lost his left arm to save Luffy from a Sea King. As captain he always wore an unbuttoned white shirt, a black cloak and sandals. During his encounter with Luffy he wore brown pants and a red sash around his waist, while later he wears pants with a floral pattern. Already from the age of nine, he wore the straw hat which he later gave to Luffy.

He has a very simple personality, similar to that of Luffy. He is nice and friendly and loves to have fun and celebrate both with his own crew and with others, as demonstrated when he managed to get a serious and composed person like Drakul Mihawk to join his party. He also prefers to take it slow and enjoy the breaks by partying instead of rushing from one place to another. He is not authoritarian towards his companions and does not like violence. In fact, he tries to avoid useless fights and does not give much weight to personal offenses or aggressions, which he prefers to laugh about instead. Even the loss of an arm was no cause for concern for him. However, he does not forgive anyone who hurts his friends and apparently becomes scary when he loses his temper. Although he usually takes on a calm and relaxed attitude, sometimes he reacts unexpectedly, like when he panicked after Luffy's kidnapping. He seems to admire brave people, as demonstrated during the war for supremacy in which he protects Kobi, a young marine, who had the courage to rebel against Admiral Akainu's will. Shanks also has great diplomatic skills, so much so that he managed to end the war between Whitebeard's fleet and the Navy with just the use of words. His oratory skills were in fact such that they led Sengoku to accept his proposal. Shanks often drinks alcohol and although he has traveled all over the world, he believes that the best sake is that of his homeland in the Western Sea, which he calls "rejuvenating water".Often in his speeches he usually mentions the concept of destiny and new era, although it is not clear precisely what he is referring to. He offers his protection as emperor for free, in fact he does not want money in exchange.
