In a relatively small community, a group of newcomers gathered, among them a boy named Carl. They quickly offered to introduce him to others from Alexandria who were his age, or even the same age. "We're almost always here after going there, so you can come whenever you want," Ron told Carl as they walked down the hallway, leading him into his house. Carl was new to Alexandria, and since he was the same age as Ron, Ron was eager to meet him. "Do you guys go to school?" Carl asked curiously. "It's in a garage," Ron explained, putting his hands in his pockets. "The other kids go in the morning, and we older ones go in the afternoon," the blond boy added as he entered one of the rooms, letting Carl in where three other people were already gathered. "Guys!" Ron exclaimed, entering the room with Carl following him. "This is Carl. Carl, this is Mikey, Enid," he murmured as his gaze and hand traveled from Mikey to Enid until they stopped on a boy sitting on the bed next to the girl who vaguely resembled Ron.
