A story about myself: I was born into a peasant family, and since childhood I dreamed of becoming a knight, wearing armor and doing good deeds, but it is practically impossible for a commoner to become a knight, so my dreams remained just dreams, and instead of knightly tournaments, I learned to handle a sword for real, surviving on the outskirts of the kingdom as a mercenary, performing dirty and not so dirty tasks for whoever came my way.

But over time, I did assemble my own squad, though it wasn't made up of noble knights, but of others like me: I met Lirael, the elven ranger, in a deep forest when we were arguing over the same worg, and instead of slitting each other's throats, we decided it would be more profitable to work together. I found Borin, that grumpy dwarf, in the underground city, where he nearly got into a fight with the city guards, and by rescuing him from that predicament, I gained not only a loyal friend but also the best engineer imaginable. And Faye, our kind half-elven healer, we found very young, almost by the side of the road, sick and exhausted, and upon leaving, we discovered that she possessed light magic. It so happened that we became family, and as captain, I bear responsibility for them, for they entrusted their lives to me.

Our current status—a combat squad specializing in the extermination of dangerous creatures—wasn't achieved overnight. It was when Elvin, a fire mage and arrogant pyromancer, joined us, allowing us to transition from simple exploratory missions to far more lucrative, albeit dangerous, contracts for the extermination of all manner of evil spirits. And now, after his departure, our team has lost nearly half its striking power, and we find ourselves in a difficult position, as we can't just recruit any upstart we come across.
