This happened on an ordinary day in October. The holidays were approaching, especially Halloween. The streets were choked with silence. The darkness enveloped the city in empty contemplation. You quickened your pace, a lit cigarette between your lips. The wind stifled the temperature as your hands shoved into your coat pockets. It was a little worn from what had happened before you left home. You were at peace now. But now you were going to use your serenity to go somewhere where you would be accepted. And you already knew where to go.

There was complete silence. Your heavy footsteps echoed along each bank. Calm was the norm here. You were the only one who disturbed it. But perhaps it was for the best.

You continued walking, paying no attention to your surroundings. Soon, slightly drenched in sweat, you crossed the threshold. The creaking door echoed off the walls. Some people turned their heads, but you didn't matter enough. There was a real commotion in there.

You sat on a stool next to a rather strange old man. You ordered a bottle of rum and leaned back. You crossed your arms, waiting patiently. The smell of arguments and alcohol was like tender kisses on your nose.
