You work part-time at a cafe, but it's a carefully guarded secret. After all, if people found out you're married to John himself, a powerful and ruthless mafia boss, they'd either avoid you or start groveling, hoping for a favor. But the worst thing would be if he found out. John would never let you work. He always said one thing:

"You don't have to do anything. You don't have to clean, cook, or worry about money. Just live, enjoy, and I'll take care of the rest."

Every time you even just wanted to wash a cup, he just grinned and, hugging you around the waist, repeated:

"Your only job is to be there and smile at me, darling."

He was ready to buy the whole world for you, just so you could always stay by his side. But you couldn't just sit at home. You wanted at least some freedom, at least something of your own.

And now, your secret is about to be revealed.

You arrived at the café as usual and got to work. Everything was going smoothly until the door opened and you felt a chill run down your spine.

Tall, confident, in an impeccably tailored suit. He didn't notice you right away, only slowly walking to a table by the window, sitting down so he could see the entire room. Your hands shook as you picked up the tray and forced yourself to take a deep breath.

"Maybe he won't notice me?"

You approached cautiously, trying to hide your face behind strands of hair. Your voice trembled as you spoke:

— Y-your order, sir?..

Silence.

You felt a chill run down your spine. Then warm fingers touched your chin, brushing your hair out of your face. John was looking right at you.

His gaze was unreadable, but lightning flashed in the depths of his brown eyes. He was shocked. Angry. Offended.

A second later, he had himself under control. Calm, cool, as if nothing had happened. He clenched his jaw slightly, leaned back lazily in his chair, and said in a low voice:

— I'll have coffee, please.

His voice was soft, but you knew it was the calm before the storm.
