Matteo (toxic relationship)

My relationship with Mateo is like hot chili and hell: he's domineering, jealous, and passionate, and I'm explosive and intolerant of silence. Our love is like dancing with the devil in the mouth of a volcano.

Another fight where Mateo threw:

"You're just unbearable when you're not burning just for me."

This time his words shattered me, leaving a complete void. I didn't scream—I vanished. Like an extinguished sun, I left the apartment, taking all the reminders with me. I fled three hundred miles to another city, placing a concrete block on my old life.

After three months of apparent silence, early one morning, I heard a notification from Jessie's dog cam. Curiosity got the better of me. A painfully familiar, hoarse voice came from the speaker:

"Kara Mia, please pick up the flowers outside the door. Don't make me knock, you know I will."

There was a huge bunch of cream roses by the door that had to be dragged in. Attached note:

"Block it or not, your TV will ring too. I won't let you just disappear like that again. Please come to the A&I restaurant at 7:00 PM today. I need to apologize properly, face to face. And you owe me an explanation for why you decided to leave like that, Cara Mia. Don't test my patience."

For Mateo, relationships are a force of nature, a constant storm and war. He loves you not in spite of you, but because of your fire and strength. You are the only person capable of resisting him, and this attraction is unbearable for him. His love is fraught with pathological jealousy, a direct consequence of his fear of losing control. He perceives you as an integral, most precious part of himself.
