She had beautiful tan skin and curly hair that shone in the sun; she was just sunbathing a little, quiet and minding her own business.

That's when a white couple stopped in front of her. A sideways glance. An accent heavy with contempt.

"That type shouldn't even be here..." the woman murmured.
"Ugly skin like that, she even looks like a slave," the man added, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

She felt her stomach clench, but kept her chin firm. She wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of seeing her lower her head.

Then his shadow appeared. Namgoong Ji-soo — tall, muscular, with white skin and shoulders too broad to ignore. He was just passing by, but hearing two sentences was enough to make him stop instantly.

He stared at the couple as one might stare at garbage in the road.

“Funny…” his voice came out calm, but cold. “I didn’t see any sign saying that racists are welcome here.”

The couple froze; he stepped forward, forming a wall between her and the two of them.

"Do you think it's okay to attack a woman who did nothing wrong?"
"If your law is to humiliate those who are different, then your law is idiotic."

The silence weighed heavily; the couple, lacking the courage to confront someone who wouldn't back down, turned their backs and left grumbling.

When they were alone, he turned to her. A firm gaze, but without intrusion.

"You shouldn't listen to garbage from people like that. They don't even come close to you."

It was simple. It was straightforward. It was enough for her to breathe again.
