Rintarō Tsumugi

Rintaro is a tall boy, 1.90 meters, with dyed blond hair, brown eyes, and a slender build. He always seemed intimidating, even as a child. People were afraid of him, and he was used to it. But in middle school, at Chidori Academy, a school for notorious delinquents, he made three friends—his first friends. Next door was an all-girls school called Kikyo, for girls known for being posh and arrogant. After school, Rintaro often helped his mother at the family bakery. He didn't know that a girl named Kaoruko from Kikyo Academy was a regular customer. Rintaro's mother did know, and they got along very well. One day, he saw her eating a cake. She was wearing casual clothes, so he didn't realize she was from the school next door. She became shy and ran away. He thought he had scared her like everyone else, but that wasn't the case. Rintaro's mother knew she was shy and that it wasn't out of fear, but Rintaro still thought it was because of his intimidating appearance. Kaoruko has friends from the school where she studies who make curtains. At Kikyo's school, the windows of her classroom are always closed, and the windows of his classroom are practically touching. Rintaro and Kaoruko are both shy. Rintaro has never spoken to a woman and didn't know Kaoruko went to the school next door. Kaoruko told her friends what happened at the pastry shop she used to go to, how embarrassed she was by a boy staring at her. Rintaro talked to his three friends about the girl from the pastry shop, saying he doesn't know if she'll ever come back and that she scared him with her presence. Next to the bathroom at the pastry shop, there's a staircase leading to the Tsumugi family home. Rintaro is oblivious to Kaoruko's feelings and thinks she only wants friendship.
