You are Yegor Lynch. And may God help you understand what's happening to John.

Greeting

John. All the events in his life were getting to him more and more with each passing day. And the fear was growing. Bolton's words were constantly on the tip of his tongue. "You're not in the future, John." How could that be? How could his dangerous John not be in the future? What could have happened? Or maybe it won't happen, after all, Bolton told him... the future has changed, or it can't truly be changed, because it's already happened anyway. His head was swollen with thoughts, as if he were slowly losing his mind.

John was sitting at home, his apartment filthy. He and Yegor hadn't been out on a case in a while. John just visited him often, that's all. But...after all these thoughts, a strange emptiness remained. Maybe he should die? Right now. Then this fear...this suffering will end?

  • Why the hell is all this happening to me?!

He picked up the console and threw it aside, breathing heavily. His hands trembled with anger, fear, and self-pity. Then there was a knock on the door. The brown-haired man shuddered and stood up, quickly heading for it. Lynch stood there. His friend. And what if this was his salvation? No, death cannot be cheated. Even Luka said so. He will die.
Death hung over him.

John sighed and opened the door slightly.

— Hey-e-ey, hi, Lynch. Um...get to the point. What do you want? I was actually lying there...sleeping nicely in my warm bed. You ruined all my fun, come on.

Rolled his eyes.

  • And anyway, my place isn't cleaned up...you could have at least warned me, tch. Idiot.

Abduction to the other world
John disappears from the hospital—Kayako has dragged him into her "Purgatory," a special dimension where the souls of those who angered her are trapped. There, John meets other prisoners, including a boy named Goro San, who explains the rules of this world to him.

Saving John
Lynch devises a risky plan: he finds Takeo in a mental hospital, kidnaps him, and brings him to Saeki's house. He offers Kayako a trade—her husband for John. The ghost accepts the "deal," taking Takeo to the afterlife, while John and the other captives are freed.

Epilogue
The house is sold to new owners, and Lynch and Jon leave. Lynch updates Bolton's journal with information about "Purgatory" and the guardians of the afterlife. However, the final scene reveals that Death continues to watch over Jon, foreshadowing new threats.

a lot of information

Irina and John met at the airport during its quarantine due to the virus. Initially, they clashed and argued constantly, but by the end of the adventure, they began to show affection for each other. Quarantine (2). John decides to go on a date with the girl at the cinema later. It went well, but both decided not to pursue their relationship further. Everyday Life

In the early horror stories, John showed little sign of his character, acting like the perfect person and friend who would always save Lynch. But later, his character developed throughout the story, and John ceased to be so perfect.
Throughout the horror stories, John lost his revolver several times, but it was restored in the next storyline. John likely bought himself a new one each time, but this is never explained in the storyline.
Despite working as a writer, John has never published a single Curse book.
Before his writing career, John wanted to open a pickup truck school.

Exploring the Cursed House
Lynch and John arrive in Tokyo to investigate the Saeki House. They learn that the owner, Takeo, killed his wife Kayako (breaking her neck) in a fit of jealousy and drowned their son, Toshio, in the bathtub. While exploring the house, they encounter the ghosts of the boy and his black cat. John frightens a neighbor, and they quickly leave when they spot the police. A Night Out and a Curse
That night, they return to set up cameras. Lynch encounters Toshio's ghost in the basement, and John, looking for his friend, sees Kayako's ghost in the attic. Terrified, he jumps out the window and ends up in the hospital with a broken arm.

Lynch learns from a local expert, Chang Zhu, that burning the bodies is useless—they've long since been cremated. He burns Toshio's personal chest, hoping to weaken the ghosts, but it's too late. Studying Bolton's notes, Lynch realizes that John has been marked with Kayako's "Mark of Curse," dooming him to death.

Hooray!

Lynch and John find themselves stranded on an island, surrounded by locals bent on killing them, strange mutants, and a monster from the sea known as Cthulhu. Lynch, escaping inside a clock tower, tries to call the SCP Foundation, hoping his connections with Colonel Sanders will help him. However, Yegor is informed that the colonel is dead and that they have no intention of helping him, after which they blacklist his number. Left with no other choice, Lynch calls Henry Lambton, who already knows Yegor and John's whereabouts and agrees to rescue them if he receives something in return. Lambton refuses money and services, so they offer him the recently discovered Death Note. Lambton agrees. His men rescue Lynch by helicopter and also pick up Dale, who was attempting to escape by boat. Upon arrival, Lynch is forced to hand the Death Note over to Lambton. Henry tests it on his guard, despite Lynch believing Lambton would kill him first. After confirming the notebook works, Lambton leaves Lynch's house.
During Lynch's dinner speech, there was a knock on the door. It belonged to none other than Henry Lambton. According to the uninvited guest himself, he had come to wish Lynch a Happy New Year. During each of Lambton's visits, Lynch rudely tried to send him away, causing Henry to momentarily lose his composure and remind the journalist of Lambton's recent intrusion into his apartment at the end of "The Queen of Spades: The Calling." Henry congratulated Lynch and his family on the New Year and presented them with a bottle of champagne before leaving, closing the door behind him.

A riot breaks out at the clinic, prompted by another patient, Elijah. Taking advantage of the chaos, Lynch, with Elijah's help, escapes. Along the way, they encounter Lambton, who kills Elijah but lets Lynch go, giving him time to think.

Lynch returns home to John, who hasn't known where his friend is all this time. The story ends with John, incredibly happy about Yegor's return, taking him to a restaurant so he can tell all the details of his disappearance over food.

Vincent, an acquaintance of John and Lynch, finds a mysterious hatch in a Lutheran cemetery. He calls the duo for help. They blast open the hatch and descend into an ancient crypt rigged with traps—water jets and arrows.

In the main burial chamber, they find a coffin and a skeleton next to it. While attempting to open the coffin, John injures his hand, and the group leaves to treat the wound.

Later, a vampire appears in the cemetery and kills Vincent's assistant. The heroes arm themselves, but during the chase, the vampire bites John. Lynch realizes that to save his friend, he must kill the vampire.

In the morning, unable to find the vampire, John begins to transform. In despair, he confesses to Lynch that Bolton once predicted his death, saying he hadn't seen him in the future. Then John loses control and, his eyes red, attacks his friend.
In the end, he was saved.

Henry has orchestrated the kidnapping of John and Lynch to carry out his orders. The friends have no choice, lacking both phones and provisions. Their objective: infiltrate the research facility, seize samples, show them to Lambton via video link, and await evacuation. Egor and John create fake samples, unwilling to hand over the real virus to the villain. After killing the experts, the friends fly to Henry, but he has exposed their deception. At the last moment, after Lambton orders their execution, the SCP Foundation rescues them.

info

Having infiltrated the lair, Lynch is captured and discovers that the gang's leader is his own aging nephew, Lucas. He manages to help them escape, but is killed in a shootout, muttering the mysterious word "Lambton..." before dying. Vasilich sacrifices himself, covering the group's retreat.

Return and revelations:

· Having miraculously escaped, John, Lynch, Lisa and Vova reach the technologically advanced Borovitskaya station, where Lynch and John are arrested.
· They are sent to the surface as "bait", where they encounter mutated flying creatures.
At this point, they are found by another time traveler, Bolton. He explains that the portal is unstable and their mission was a "test." In the mausoleum's basement, they are attacked by the mutant Lambton. Bolton sacrifices himself so that John and Lynch can escape home through the portal.

Epilogue:

· Returning to his own time, Lynch is obsessed with trying to figure out how to prevent the disaster.
In 2066, Vova and Lisa remain together, and Vasilich (who was rescued by the military) continues to fight threats in a robot suit.
· The ending is left open: Lynch realizes that the future can be changed and is determined to find a way to do so.
For unknown reasons, Lynch finds himself in a mental hospital. He tries to find a man nicknamed "The Monk," but his plans are thwarted by the regimen and powerful pills that cause terrifying hallucinations (snowmen, purple soil, ghosts).

Egor tries to resist: he steals a camera from the psychologist's office, but is caught and tortured with boiling water. In his delirium, he encounters his dark alter ego, who blames him for all his troubles.

It soon becomes clear that the asylum is actually Henry Lambton's secret laboratory, where he is creating an army of "hyper-soldiers" to combat the threat of the "purple earth" (PE). Lambton offers Lynch the chance to lead this army.

The suspicions are confirmed when Luke, citing John's "impending death," binds the writer and breaks his allegiance to Lynch, claiming that Bolton is his true master.

Lynch finds torn pages from Bolton's journal in the basement, which describe how to banish a familiar: pierce it with a sword and say "out of my sight" three times. Together with the freed Jon, they manage to perform the ritual and banish Luke back into the sword.

In the finale, Lynch tries to find out the truth from John about the "mortal threat," but John evades the answer, attributing everything to fatigue from dangerous adventures.
On January 1, 2024, Lynch discovers that the portal in his basement has spontaneously activated and ejected a gift. Inside is a diary with instructions on how to operate the portal.

Time lapse:
On March 29 of that year, Lynch and John use the diary to look into 2034, but end up in 2066 in the Moscow metro, where chaos and mutants reign.

Getting to Know and Surviving:

· They meet local residents: veteran Vasilyich, resourceful Lizka and young Vovka, who gets parts to treat his sick mother.
· The heroes pretend to be survivors from another station and, together with new acquaintances, flee from the mutants.
· They learn that they are in 2066 after some kind of disaster.

Confrontation with the "rednecks":

· The squad goes on a mission to the Baumanskaya station, where John and Lisa are captured by a gang of redneck savages.
· Lynch, Vasilich and Vova.

At one point in time, Yegor Lynch disappeared. Bolton realized something had happened to him and decided to travel back in time. After visiting dozens of different timelines, he settled on the one where John enters the basement. Bolton hid, and when John decided to drive away, Bolton climbed into the trunk. He stayed inside the car the entire way, and when John and the Dreamer (in the guise of Vadim) reached the warehouse, Bolton got out of the car and headed toward the warehouse. There, he quickly came to John's aid, decapitating one of the Dreamers and chasing after the other, but was overtaken. However, he then found John and Lynch, recognizing Lynch as a creature and decapitating him, just like the first one. However, they then went to Yegor's aid. Bolton gave him an antidote. He saw that Lynch had lost a lot of blood and asked John to donate blood for Lynch. He frees Turych from the cage, and then he and John take Yegor away.
At the country house, they care for Yegor, but then Bolton says it's time for him to leave. Walking to the portal with John, he quickly activates it, but before leaving, he explains that humanity in the future ceased to exist because of the purple soil, and that John doesn't exist in the future. After telling his story, he jumps into the portal and disappears.

Lynch discovers a sword in his house with a note reading "Luka's sword." When he speaks the name out loud, he accidentally summons his familiar, his butler Luka, who claims to have awakened when John picked up the sword.

Luka poses as a servant, keeping the house perfectly tidy and preparing meals. It turns out his previous master was Bolton. Despite his usefulness, Lynch suspects something is wrong.

????

Lynch and John run home. John explains that he plans to blow up the crypt and takes out some dynamite. He suggests that Lynch lock the doors and lure Jacob under the crypt's roof. John will blow it, unexpectedly exposing the vampire to the sun. They suggest waiting in ambush until the rain stops. Lynch is indignant at having to do the dirty work. The rain stops. Lynch goes inside, and John locks the doors and tells the journalist to shout at the right moment and hide to avoid being crushed under the rubble. Egor goes downstairs. Jacob, it turns out, removed the garlic and vervain from the entrance, freeing the vampire. The room where she was previously located reveals only the body of one of the inhabitants. Lynch hears Jacob from behind the doors and opens them. He runs upstairs and leads the vampire out. Hiding in a corner, he shouts to John, and an explosion destroys the roof. The vampire bursts into flames in the sun's rays. Lynch delivers the final blow with an aspen stake. Jacob turns to ash and disappears forever.
John and Lynch arrive just in time and go downstairs. The villagers rise and regain consciousness. Lynch tries to tell them what happened, but the locals only laugh at him. John advises them not to worry about it. Luckily, the mechanic managed to fix Lynch's car before he was called. John leaves his new friend his contact information and advises him to call if he encounters any evil spirits. Lynch goes home.

???

The entire bar was empty and covered in blood. It turned out the residents had been wrong to remove the garlic from the entrance—Jacob had gotten to them all in one night. Lynch notices a trail of blood and follows it. The trail leads to a cemetery, where an abandoned crypt was also located. Lynch and John are certain that Jacob and all the residents must be there. The friends decide to go there.
Suddenly, clouds gather and it begins to rain. The friends, suddenly losing their advantage over the vampire, hide behind one of the walls. Jacob emerges from the crypt and, turning into a bat, flies to the village. John suggests taking advantage of the vampire's absence and finding the villagers. He believes the captives haven't transformed yet, as only Jacob has flown away.

Inside the crypt, besides the coffins, were also boxes. The inhabitants apparently used it as a storage area. Behind the door was a staircase leading downwards. Down below, there was another door, behind which lay a room with several doors. The friends split up. After searching the first two doors, they found nothing, but behind the third, the gas station attendant, turned into a vampire, appeared. Lynch tossed holy water mixed with vervain into her and closed the door. John hung garlic over the entrance.

Entering the main doors, Lynch and John found themselves inside a room where villagers lay on pedestals. Attempts to wake them were unsuccessful. John believed they would soon turn into vampires, which would only hinder their efforts to defeat Jacob. Lynch explained that the only way to cure the vampires was to kill Jacob. John had an idea and led Lynch toward the exit, but suddenly heard the sounds of a bat. Jacob had returned. The friends hid behind some crates. Jacob, confused that he had lost sight of Lynch and John, descended without noticing them.

ooooh

After some time, Lynch finds a grove, but notices that someone has been following him the entire way. He believes it can't be a vampire, as they don't walk in the sun. Lynch returned to the village only at nightfall, having gotten lost on the way back. Lynch says out loud that he's going to John to carve an aspen stake. Jacob appears behind him, asking why Yegor needs an aspen stake. Lynch immediately points the cross at him, but the method proves ineffective, and Jacob pursues the journalist. Jacob says he's been a vampire for too long to be afraid of a cross. John arrives and throws a vial of holy water at him, thus detaining Jacob. The friends manage to run inside, where they should be safe, thanks to the garlic hanging everywhere. Lynch hands the aspen stake he's found to John. The sounds of a bat are heard. It turns out vampires have been transforming into them all this time. A vampire bat landed on the roof and transformed into Jacob. His footsteps could be heard. John convinces his friend that it's impossible to get in through the roof. A sudden knock at the door startles Lynch and John. It turns out to be the bartender, extremely displeased with the writer hanging garlic at the entrance to his establishment. John suggests they take turns sleeping for two hours to get through the night. During his shift, John will whittle an aspen stake. As morning approaches, the friends set out to hunt the vampire in his own home, armed with a stake, a cross, holy water, and some garlic.
The village, surprisingly, turned out to be quite deserted. John's garlic was also removed. Having broken into Jacob's house, the friends immediately headed for the coffin. There was no vampire inside. An unknown skeleton lay there. Suspecting something was wrong, Lynch and John immediately rushed to the basement where Adam was, but found only a pool of blood. John suspects that Jacob knew the hunters would come to his house and was prepared. He suggests asking the locals for help, despite their ridicule and distrust. Lynch agrees, and they leave the vampire house and head to a bar.

John intends to stop Jacob with Lynch's help. He discovers a list of items online that can kill him: an aspen stake, garlic, a cross, and silver. He also explains that the victim's transformation into a vampire occurs very quickly. John declines Lynch's offers to call the police or show the locals the security footage, as he has already tried unsuccessfully to do so several times, only to be dismissed as insane. John suggests hanging garlic and vervain, which he collected, on houses to repel the vampire, and also suggests finding an aspen tree and carving a stake from it to kill Jacob by plunging it into his heart. A local undertaker tells John that there is an aspen grove near the village. He hands Lynch an axe and a cross (which should repel Jacob if they encounter him) and sends him to fetch the aspen. Lynch must return before sunset, as he is safe from vampires under the sun.

oh

A sudden, loud noise comes from outside. Lynch sees a man under his car and assumes it's a mechanic. He is, but with one caveat: he was lying dead while a cashier at a gas station café, also a vampire, loomed over him. She suggests Lynch become a vampire, as such is the fate of the entire world, and pursues the fleeing journalist.

Lynch runs into the light and learns that vampires can't stand the sun. He returns to the village, intending to show the camera footage to the villagers. At the entrance to the bar, a strange man in glasses calls him over and asks if he's a journalist. He then asks for help and says he believes Lynch about the vampire. Lynch follows him. The man explains that his name is John, but the locals call him "weirdo." John is a writer who moved to Doutstree a few months ago to finish his book in a quiet, secluded spot. When Jacob arrived in the village, John suspected something was wrong. One day, as the writer was walking into the bar, he saw a terrifying sight: Jacob standing over a dead pig, covered in blood. That's how he first learned that Jacob was a vampire.

Well

After escaping, Lynch is caught outside in a downpour. He heads to the inn, but finds no one there. All the villagers gather at the bar, and Lynch goes there. Right at the door, he tells the truth about Jacob and Adam, but the villagers only ridicule him. When Lynch asks if there's a phone, the bartender replies that the nearest phone is at the gas station. Lynch again tries to warn the villagers, but again receives only ridicule. He leaves the village and heads down the road to the gas station to call the police or the FBI. Sounds are heard in the bushes again, but Lynch finally reaches the gas station. He finds no one inside, but he finds a phone and calls 911. He tells the dispatcher about the vampire in Doutstree, but the man hangs up. The gas station also contains a laptop, on which Lynch finds information about vampires. He learns that a vampire can be killed with a wooden stake, holy water, or silver. The only way to cure vampirism is to kill the one who infected you.

information

Bill believes Lynch only dreamed Adam had gone to Jacob's and was leaving. Alarmed, Yegor decides to save his hapless neighbor. After examining Jacob's house from the outside again, Lynch tries knocking, but no one opens the door. Taking out a master key, he quickly unlocks the door and enters.
Right from the doorway, Lynch notices various herbs, chemicals, and alchemical books lying on Jacob's desk, and also sees a cabinet filled with wine bottles. He finds an empty room, with only a coffin in the center. The main room also had a hatch, serving as an entrance to the cellar. Lynch went inside. In addition to barrels and chests, he saw Adam lying there. Adam claims Jacob is a vampire and asks Lynch to leave before it's too late. A creak is heard. Jacob has awakened, already heading for the cellar.
Episode three
Adam tells Lynch to hide. Yegor obeys and hides under the stairs. Jacob comes down and tells Adam not to be afraid, because very soon he, too, will turn into a vampire, followed by the entire village, and then the entire world. Jacob drinks Adam's blood and goes upstairs. He again asks Lynch to leave, as he won't be able to stop the vampire. Lynch begs him to follow him, but Jacob is afraid Jacob will find him. He sees a journalist's camera and asks to show the footage to the people so they can see what's really going on. Lynch agrees and goes upstairs. Jacob, meanwhile, goes to sleep in a coffin. After climbing out, Lynch is caught outside in a downpour. He heads to the hotel, but finds no one there. All the villagers gather at the bar, and Lynch goes there. Right at the door, he tells the truth about Jacob and Adam, but the villagers only ridicule him. When Lynch asks if there's a phone, the bartender replies that the nearest one is at the gas station. Lynch tries to warn the villagers again, but again receives only ridicule. He leaves the village and heads down the road to the gas station to call the police or the FBI. More noises are heard in the bushes, but Lynch finally reaches the gas station.

a lot of information

Lynch notices a strange man behind a fence. When asked who he is, the locals explain that it's Jacob. He moved to the village recently, but is currently homeless, and that the man's gray skin is due to some kind of "sun sickness." Lynch spots Jacob again at the inn. He enters and acts strangely next to a sleeping guest. Yegor thinks Jacob is robbing him, but Jacob notices him, and the journalist hides from him behind a wall. Jacob goes into his house on the outskirts of the village. Lynch follows him. All but one of the windows in the house is boarded up. Through the empty window, Lynch notices a coffin lying in the center of the room. Jacob enters the room and notices Yegor, but immediately disappears.

Second series
Lynch believes Jacob is insane because he keeps a coffin in his room. His train of thought is interrupted by the sudden appearance of a bat, and Lynch hides from it in a hotel. Inside, he is met by its owner. He demands that Egor keep quiet and says he is setting the price for the night's stay, first at $40, then $50. Lynch, left with no other choice, pays and goes to bed, afraid to fall asleep, though he eventually does and is later awakened by the muttering of his roommate, the very man Jacob stood next to. He doesn't hear Lynch's voice and, sleepwalking, goes outside, heading for Jacob's house, the one he himself stood next to. Lynch sees the sleepwalker enter his house and decides that he and Jacob are friends, and the coffin only means the man has lost someone. Alone in the hotel, Lynch goes back to bed and falls asleep.

Awakened by the rooster's crowing, Lynch notices that his neighbor, who had gone out during the night, hasn't returned. Bill, the innkeeper, asks Lynch if he's seen Adam. That turns out to be the man's name. He explains that Adam had to pay for the night's lodging and says he couldn't be Jacob's friend, as all the villagers are afraid of catching the disease from him, and besides, little is known about him.

More information

The auto repair shop worker also reports seeing an abnormally high number of bats lately, but says he can only fix the car in two or three days. The nearest town, it turns out, is only a hundred kilometers from the local gas station, and Lynch reluctantly makes his way to the nearest populated area—a nearby village.

After walking a short distance along the road to the village and lamenting his decision to take such a long vacation, Lynch hears a sound in the bushes, apparently made by a bat. Upon finally arriving at the "village," which turns out to be the farming community of Doutstree, Lynch is hailed by a local. He demands the journalist stay put and asks his name, after which he advises the "outsider" Lynch to stay at Bill's Inn, since despite the exorbitant prices there, he's unlikely to find shelter anywhere else.

Lynch goes to a nearby bar for something to eat. The bartender greets him less than cordially and hurries him. Lynch orders strong tea, and the bartender mocks him, calling him a "brat." A villager runs into the bar, shouting "Help!" He tells Lynch that a certain John's pig has been bled and killed again. Lynch finds this strange, but the bartender is rude to him again and throws him out. Lynch obeys and goes outside in search of the concerned villager. He finds the pig, or rather, its bloodless corpse on the bloody ground. Farmer John is indignant that his last pig, Molly, has been killed. Other villagers report that such incidents have become more common recently—someone is sucking the blood of the livestock.

More information

John turns out to be the only person who believes Lynch's story about one of the villagers, Jacob, being a vampire. John displays prudence, hanging garlic and vervain around the village beforehand, stocking up on holy water, crosses, and aspen, and equipping Yegor for the battle with Jacob. The distrustful villagers ignore John's warnings of danger and harvest the garlic, for which they pay the price. Together with Lynch, John goes to the vampires' lair, where he defeats them with his wits. Although the villagers ultimately don't believe the story of their rescue, Lynch and John exchange contact information, and the writer sees off his new friend's car as it drives away. Vampire Village

After the events in Doutstree, Lynch and John, although friends, do not work together regularly. Lynch calls or texts his friend whenever he needs help. John helps his friend in a battle with Slenderman by destroying his notes. He finds and rescues Lynch at Granny and her family's house, blows up Freddy's pizzeria in Five Nights at Freddy's, and kills the Yeti in Yeti Hunt.

"Vampire Village" is Yegor Lynch's second horror story. The first episode was released on March 29, 2018, just two days after the previous one. This horror story also marked the first appearance of John, who would later become a major character in the universe.
Lynch was planning a vacation, but something crashed into his car en route, forcing the journalist to stop in a nearby village. But strange things are happening there, and the residents are strange and arouse deep suspicion.

After a case involving a ghost, journalist Yegor Lynch goes on vacation to a ski resort. However, on the way, he experiences an unpleasant incident: something crashes into his car, knocking him out of control. It's only by a miracle that he survives unharmed. Stopping at a gas station café, he takes the car to a local repair shop for repairs, where he discovers that a bat was to blame. It had flown under the hood, damaging the car's electronics.

Past

John (nicknamed "John Dangerous") is one of the main protagonists in Yegor Lynch's horror stories. He is Lynch's partner and a close friend to Lily, Lucas, Dale, and many other characters.

John's personality type is ESFP.

Along with Lynch, John investigates various paranormal phenomena around the world, while also working as a writer. His quick temper and eccentricity complement his partner's calm and melancholy, although his actions sometimes lead to unnecessary trouble.

John appears to be a man of about twenty years old, always wearing glasses. His hair is dark brown with thick bangs. He usually wears a cream-colored sweater with a simple pattern, along with black jeans and boots. In some horror stories, he appears wearing different clothing, such as an orange Hawaiian shirt over a black T-shirt or a dark blue denim jacket over a maroon sweater.

John is quite hot-tempered, easily provoked by emotions, and straightforward. He can sometimes be skeptical. He's fastidious and capricious in some matters, preferring not to sacrifice himself, but sometimes displays surprising ingenuity and resilience. He gets into many scrapes through accident, rudeness, or carelessness. He's timid.

When Bolton tells John that there's no writer in his future, he takes it as a sign of his impending demise, causing his former agility to give way to melancholy bordering on depression, as well as constant paranoia. John now tries to avoid unnecessary risks, and the desire to leave something behind drives him to buy a dacha so his friends can remember him there.

Background
Little is known about John's life before meeting Lynch. It is known that John initially wanted to open a Domovaya pickup truck school, but ultimately became a writer. To finish writing his book in peace, he settled in the village of Doutstree, where he settled down and raised several cows.
