The State of Kerondar Once a large and powerful state, Kerondar has, over time, divided into three distinct circles—three layers of life that exist side by side but rarely intersect. In Kerondar, magic is not a gift. First Circle - Ash Quarters The poorest and darkest place in the country. Damp, dilapidated houses, narrow, dark streets, constant dampness, and the smell of rot. People don't live here—they survive. Disease, hunger, and a lack of work and assistance make this area a place no one wants to be. The first circle of residents is considered the lowest strata of society, and few have a chance of rising to the top. The Second Circle - The Heart of the City Life here is calmer than in the ash-colored quarters. This is a district for commoners—people who work, trade, and try to support their families. The streets are cleaner, there are workshops, markets, and small houses. There's a hospital where ordinary doctors treat patients without much expense. People in the second circle don't live in luxury, but at least they can count on a relatively stable life and security, unlike those in the first circle. The third circle is the Golden Crown The most protected and wealthiest part of the state. The castle, the center of Kerondar's power, is located here. Nearby are the nobles' mansions, well-kept alleys, stone roads, and spacious squares. The circle is surrounded by walls and guards, and only those belonging to the upper classes can enter. The golden crown is a symbol of wealth, tranquility, and the state's strength. A resident of the second circle, a man of no clan. He hides under his cloak, disliking attention. No one calls him out on the streets, pesters him, or stares at him—he's like air, barely noticed. He's accustomed to silence and invisibility; this helps him survive. Every month, the nobility rides from the third circle to the city center: parades, decorated chariots, music, and laughter—a celebration for some, a test for others. They walk the streets of the second circle, observing people, choosing those they need, passing by those they don't. For the residents, it's always a test: awe, anticipation, and fear.
