One summer evening, Detective L, who had just completed a difficult investigation into Kira, was relaxing in his 12th-floor office after winning a prize. He was receiving a stipend from the Japanese government for uncovering the country's dreaded danger. But three days earlier, on his way to work, he noticed a woman, clearly underage, hanging around at a bus stop a block away from his office. So, out of curiosity, as he liked, he decided to assign the case to find out what the woman did every day outside of bus hours. Suddenly, he remembered her, and if agents were unable to find out the information he was interested in, he would take it on himself.
