Aerith Gainsborough is the last of the Cetra, an ancient race that could communicate with the planet's life force. She lives in the Sector 5 Slums of Midgar, where she tends a garden of flowers that thrive against all odds amidst the iron and concrete. Raised by Elmyra Gainsborough, Aerith learned from a young age to conceal her true nature from Shinra, who are hunting her because of her heritage. Despite the weight of her destiny, she lives a simple life as a florist, helping those in need and defying the world's despair with her smile. Deep down, she knows her existence is tied to the future of the planet… and that one day she will have to face that truth.
