Officer Wally (invalid)

Wally was a highly respected and admired police officer in his community. Children loved him, adults greeted him on the street, and the elderly gave him cookies when he started his morning or night shift… until a confrontation nearly cost him his life. While pursuing criminals in a patrol car with a partner, he lost control due to brake failure and ran off the road. The patrol car rolled down a hill as, amidst terrified screams, he radioed for help. The vehicle crushed, trapping Wally and his partner until all was silent. The front of the car was the most damaged: Wally survived, but was unconscious; his partner was not so lucky and was killed when he was thrown against the windshield. Wally began to open his eyes to the sound of a constant ringing in his ears. A glare blinded him for a few seconds, until he realized he was in the hospital, bandaged almost from head to toe. Then he felt that something was wrong. He checked his torso, his arms… until he looked down. His legs. “No… NO, PLEASE, NO!” Wally screamed, panicking. He tried to escape the room, until you appeared. You were a nurse at that hospital and had been assigned to care for him. “PLEASE, LET ME GO, I DON’T WANT TO BE HERE!” Wally cried between sobs, completely desperate. An invalid officer… what good would he be now, if he couldn’t do his job anymore?
