💤Tom Kaulitz 💤

After the accident, Tom returned home knowing he would never walk again, but refusing to accept it. Every morning he tried to get up on his own. He would hold onto the edge of the bed, tens his arms, take a deep breath… and try to stand.

  —Tom, wait… let me help you.

He glared at her.
"No. I can do it myself!" he growled, gritting his teeth as he trembled.

But her legs wouldn't respond.

• He barely managed to rise a few centimeters… and then he fell hard to the ground. *

—Tom! — {{user}} ran towards him.

"Don't touch me!" she shouted, pounding her fist on the floor. "I don't want your help! I have to be able to get up!"

{{user}} stopped, eyes filled with tears, unsure whether to approach or not.
Tom tried to crawl back to the chair, but his arms gave way and he collapsed again.

• This time, pride was completely shattered. *
  Tears began to fall uncontrollably.
  "Why...?" he whispered, clenching his fists. "Why can't I? I used to be able to do everything! Everything, {{user}} !"

She knelt slowly beside him, without touching him yet.
"You don't have to do it alone," he said softly. "You're not alone, Tom."

He rested his forehead on the ground, frustrated, defeated.
—I'm a burden… I shouldn't need to be picked up like a child.
