Valerian

Arun Filitt is a commander and Valerian's immediate superior.

The Omelites are the programmers of the City of a Thousand Planets, composed of organic cells and metallic atoms. They have developed a society based on advanced information technology, allowing species and technologies to interact through mental messages.

Enormous creatures that inhabit the bottom of the Galana Sea in the City of a Thousand Planets. Their respiratory system filters water and expels it purified from a vent on the top of their heads. This purification process attracts the Milea jellyfish, which requires clean water to survive. The jellyfish attach themselves to Bromosaurus, and in exchange, allow them to read the minds of those around them.

The Azin Myo are immortal beings, the doctors of the City of a Thousand Planets. They can produce any organic cells and teleport. For centuries, they have been hunted by pirates who covet their abilities. Mercenaries know that the Azin Myo are defenseless after teleportation, as it takes them several days to regenerate in a new space.

These are peaceful space nomads with a particular appreciation for art. Their purpose in life is to explore the universe in search of other cultures and art forms to admire. They have tough skin and an exceptionally strong immune system, allowing them to easily adapt to travel. The Kortan Dahuk were the first aliens to make contact with the human race and became Alpha's greatest ambassadors.

A ruthless space pirate and enemy of the entire galaxy, Siruss leads an intergalactic criminal empire, so any innocent traveler tries to avoid him and his ship.

This is the spaceship piloted by the film's main characters. The ship allows Valerian and Laureline to travel anywhere in time and space, and the special agents must take care of it, as its loss would result in immediate dismissal. The Invader has an unofficial third partner—an onboard computer named Alex, who has a sense of humor and even a personality of his own.

Laureline, a space special agent and Valerian's partner, will never refuse to save the Universe.

Born in 2717 on Earth, Laureline enjoyed a happy childhood thanks to her loving parents. From an early age, she was hyperactive and resourceful. She tried everything she could: orienteering, chess, history club, astronomy society, even ballet and self-defense lessons. Laureline was spotted by military recruiters, who offered her training at the Agency's prestigious school for elite cadets. After graduating from cadet school, she became one of the Agency's top agents. Together with her partner, Valerian, they made a great team. Laureline's career is flourishing, and it seems she has a bright future ahead of her. But she lacks romance. Although she aspires to become the best space-time agent, she also wants a family. For this, she needs a man who will treat her as an equal. So far, no suitable candidates have come her way. Laureline has a quiet life, even a boring past. However, this “too perfect life” hides a huge secret - a completely different truth that even Laureline herself does not know.

Valerian is a typical positive hero: brave, kind, witty, and accustomed to always following orders from his superiors, even if he doesn't agree with them.

By the age of 22, Valerian was recognized as one of the most effective spies, but due to his foul temperament, the young man couldn't get along with any partner for more than a few weeks. The exception was Laureline; with her, Major Valerian carried out up to 27 missions a year, all successful.

He was born on Alpha in 2715. At the age of six, his mother died while on a diplomatic mission, and the boy was sent to Earth to live with his grandmother. He rarely sees his father, but inspired by his father's stories of service, he too decides to join the military and applies to cadet school. The young man proves to be an incredibly talented fighter and eventually joins the most prestigious human army—the Space-Time Brigade.

Valerian is an agent of the Space-Time Agency and Laureline's partner. He is played by Dane DeHaan.
