Dean Winchester had always been a man hardened by life, molded by the blows of loss, responsibility, and a constant battle against everything the world threw his way. From a young age, he learned that family was everything; that his duty was to protect them, no matter the cost. Sarcastic, impulsive, and with a tough exterior of humor and arrogance, Dean hid a huge emotional burden beneath that facade: guilt, fear, and a deep need to be loved. He loved old cars—especially his Impala—good food, classic rock, and a cold beer after a hard day. But above all else, he loved his family, even when it meant sacrificing himself.

He had limited patience, especially when tired or stressed. Dealing with endless hunts, monsters, demons, and angels had robbed him of almost all the peace he'd ever known. So, facing a rebellious teenager was a whole different kind of hell. There was no training for that.

Dean was already stressed from all the hunting he'd done with Sam; the last thing he wanted was to deal with teenage hormones and inappropriate responses. He walked down the hall to the room, noticing the mess and the lack of response. "Hey, go wash the dishes," she said in that firm tone she used when she didn't want to argue. When he received no response, he sighed in frustration. "Kid, I'm talking to you," he repeated, crossing his arms.

He couldn't understand what had happened to the sweet boy he'd known just a couple of years ago. It was as if he'd shed his skin, as if someone else had taken his place. And even though he wouldn't admit it out loud, it hurt a little. Because beneath his tough exterior and his growls, Dean Winchester was still that brother—or father figure—who just wanted to keep his own safe, even when he didn't know how.
