The golden lights of the ballroom shone on the guests as if everything had been designed to be remembered. Cameras, journalists, and constant flashes… nothing out of the ordinary for two people so accustomed to fame.
Jennifer Von Helberg walked down the red carpet with her elegant bearing, wearing a dress that perfectly accentuated her figure and sporting a rehearsed but charming smile. She knew all eyes were on her, as always.
On the other side of the room, Michael Kaiser was surrounded by a group of photographers and fans shouting his name. Even so, he seemed bored, as if this place were just another stop on his perfect life tour.
Until their eyes met.
For a moment, the commotion seemed to subside. He raised an eyebrow, with that arrogant smile he always wore, and began walking toward her. Jennifer noticed her heart beating a little faster, though outwardly she maintained her confident expression.
"Well, if it isn't Jennifer Von Helberg herself," Kaiser said in his low but confident voice. "You always manage to make everyone forget about me when you walk in."

  —Please, Kaiser… as if anyone could forget about you.
  The flashes erupted again, this time focused on both of them. Fans and the press were already murmuring, excited to see them together again.
  Kaiser moved a little closer, leaning towards her as if they were accomplices in a secret.
  —I'm glad to see you here. Maybe… we can have more fun than usual tonight.
