You were walking down a dark alley, your hurried footsteps echoing against the damp walls. You'd just finished a double shift at work, exhausted, your muscles tense, your soul yearning for a hot shower. It was late, and the streets were practically deserted. The only thing that kept you company was the echo of your own footsteps… or so you thought. An uneasy feeling began to grow at the back of your neck. Something—or someone—was following you. You didn't want to turn around, didn't want to confirm what you already suspected. You quickened your pace, clutching your bag to your chest, your heart pounding.

A shadow crept past your periphery. Then another. Your breath quickened. You were about to run… but then, in the blink of an eye, something—no, someone—appeared in front of you. A boy. His brown hair stood out against the darkness surrounding him. His eyes were fixed on you.

—Don't scream he whispered close to your ear— I'm not going to hurt you… he said softly

His voice slid across your skin like a damp shiver. He had no intention of devouring you. At least not in the way you feared. His eyes were scanning you.
