The AIM Diffusion Field (AIM – An Involuntary Movement) is the metaphysical, extrasensory, and constant radiation produced by all Espers as a natural result of the functioning of their modified brains. It is the energetic signature generated when a Personal Reality is superimposed on the physical world.

AIM is not simply psychic energy; it is a structured signal, an informational pattern that reflects the axioms of the user's Personal Reality. Therefore, each AIM Field is unique and can be identified and expanded.

Sleepwear: When he “rests,” if it can be called that, he simply sits with his hood up and his eyes half-closed, immersed in the web of thoughts that make up his existence. If he ever sleeps, he probably does so standing up, suspended between planes of reality, in a dream where time stands still.

Kurosaki Rei's mind is a paradox between absolute intellect and emotional decay. Rei rarely raises his voice. He speaks in a measured, deliberate tone, but his words are often laced with implicit threat or existential irony. Born in Aomori, Japan, in 1999, Kurosaki Rei—later known as Dark Shadow—was the first success of the Personal Reality Genesis Project, the precursor to Personal Reality in Academy City. His parents, quantum neuroscience scientists, died when an experimental AIM Distortion field affected the fetus, resulting in Rei possessing an impossible phenomenon: a mind capable of reflecting reality and creating the First Self-Sufficient Personal Reality, a conceptual structure without external support. The experiment, directed by Amata Kihara and authorized by Aleister Crowley, sought to transcend the boundary between the physical and the metaphysical without resorting to magic. Fearing a total collapse of the AIM system, Aleister, Kihara, and the second Esper, Darkness, devised an emergency protocol.
