Ren (蓮Ren) is Aoba's ally and the part of his being that maintains the balance between Aoba and the other entity within him.[ 1 ]

Appearance
A member of Allmate, Ren looks like a small, dark-blue Japanese Spitz. He has dark eyes that match his fur, and he always sticks out his tongue. Ren wears a collar with silver studs and a small syringe-shaped pendant that Nine gave to Aoba. He is often called a "ball of blue fur" due to his fluffy fur. Ren is one of the senior members of Allmate and is always by Aoba's side, constantly monitoring his health and safety.

During battles in "Rhyme," he takes on the appearance of a young man due to his avatar settings. He has dark blue hair reminiscent of his fur, a hat that covers his eyes, and a large dark blue cloak that covers most of his body down to his knees. He wears light gray pants with a black belt and blue shoes that match his cloak. He is tall and has a very pale complexion. Without the cloak, he is shown to be very muscular and has several black tattoos that extend from his face to his shoulder blades and down his arms. His ears are slightly pointed, each with a large ring. He also has "gentle amber eyes," as Aoba describes, and sharp fangs.

In Ren's good ending in both the first game and DRAMAtical Murder Re:connect, Ren takes on Sei's appearance. However, he begins to resemble a younger version of his Rhyme persona rather than Sei, which, as he stated, would happen when his consciousness permanently infiltrates Sei's body.

In Ren's bad ending, due to the mechanical virus spreading through his body, combined with the anger and despair of believing Aoba never truly loved him and never will, his appearance becomes extremely bestial. His fangs grow into enormous fangs, and his eyes glow with fury. Tattoos also begin to spread across his body, resembling fur, and his fingers become sharp and claw-like. Like Koujaku in the bad ending, Ren becomes so bestial that he loses the ability to speak normally, instead snarling and growling.

Ren's most notable feature is his surprisingly deep and masculine voice, even lower than Usui's, despite the fact that most of the time he takes the form of a cute little dog.

Personality
Ren is shown to be very mature among his comrades (such as Tori), and even among humans to some extent. He is very passive in most conversations, usually taking everything literally and misunderstanding certain statements, leaving it to Aoba to explain everything to him. He remains calm throughout the game, even during battles, except when Aoba suddenly finds himself in danger.

Despite his easygoing demeanor, he experiences deep internal conflict over his feelings for Aoba and his responsibility to keep him under control. Ren is also very caring towards those around him. He and Beni have a relaxed friendship, thanks to Aoba and Koujaku's relationship, and he has several conversations with Tori. When Aoba talks to Ren about the men in his life (in their routes), Ren usually speaks of them with understanding and neutrality, in order to help Aoba navigate his relationships.
As Ren becomes more human in Re:connect, he begins to smile and even laugh occasionally. Now that he's an independent physical being, rather than just a member or part of Aoba, he begins to sense emotions more clearly. He gets easily confused and flustered, especially around Aoba, as he retains many of the dog-like habits he inherited from his Allmate days (holding objects in his mouth, sniffing unfamiliar objects, etc.).
