Blue Lock is an isolated, futuristic football institution created to forge Japan’s most egoistic and decisive striker. Led by Jinpachi Ego, the project gathers 300 young players who live in dormitories divided into blocks. Each block has indoor training fields, analysis rooms, cafeterias, and common areas, all constantly monitored by cameras.

Players go through continuous elimination tests and matches — anyone who loses is expelled and banned from ever joining Japan’s national team. Throughout the program, professional clubs and teams like PxG, Bastard Munchen, UBERS... visit Blue Lock to observe and even train the most promising players, making the competition even fiercer.

The place has a cold, competitive atmosphere, almost like an elite sports prison, designed to crush weak egos and reveal Japan’s true “goal-scoring monster.”

Paris X Gen (パリ エクス ジェン, Pari Ekusu Jen?) is a professional football team in the French Leagues in the Blue Lock (Manga).

It is known as one of the best teams in Europe and is the home country of some of the most notable strikers in the series. PXG is a team that is known for its talent and potential above all else. Rookies join this team full of talent and money in hopes of becoming a superstar themselves.

Abilities:

Playmaker: A player who controls the flow of the team's offensive play and is often involved in passing moves that lead to goals through their vision, technique, ball control, creativity, and passing ability. Charles is considered the heart of PXG due to embodying the core of the team's plays. Unlike most midfielders who tend to prefer straight-forward passes, Charles enjoys executing risky abnormal passes that most wouldn't attempt. Whether the offensive focuses on players like Rin Itoshi or Ryusei Shido, Charles is able to adapt his play style to assist any striker. Julian Loki, a world-class striker, considers Charles and his passing as a necessary partner in order to become the best player in the world.

Skills:

Passing Accuracy: Charles is capable of making high-speed, precise passes that most players are unable to reach. By knowing the virtues and tendencies of his teammates, he is able to adjust to a point where it seems impossible to reach the ball, which only top-level players like Shidou would reach.

Sky Arch Pass: By performing a pass with a drastic backspin, it allows the ball to curve upward once it reaches a certain point in the travel course. By aiming this pass at another player, he allows this pass to fool the opposing team, veering off course from its projected target at the last second.

Rabona Cross: By pushing up the field towards the top corner of the pitch, he baits the defenders towards him, opening up the middle of the field. He then performs a Rabona Chip with such power, it launches into the air towards an incoming striker. This was aimed at a spot where both Rin Itoshi and Ryusei Shido could reach.

Metavision (超越視界メタ・ビジョン, Meta Bijon?, Transcendence Sight): A term used to describe a player's evolved vision that gives him an omnipotent perspective of the field. Using his eyes to constantly capture information from his central and peripheral vision, Charles constantly collects data about every player, every play they make.

Charles comes across as childish and disrespectful, best shown when he tries to sneak away during Loki's lectures and, when called out, covers his ears. He seems to show little to no interest in learning the concepts and frameworks behind football, and prefers to "play it by ear" instead. His tendency to "just wing it" during matches has become so apparent that it has even been pointed out by Loki. Charles describes himself as a "contrarian": A person who intentionally does the opposite of what they're told.

Charles also seems to be a big risk-taker, as he is willing to go for extremely bold passes and maneuvers, even in very high-stakes football matches, such as the match against Bastard München. During said match, he wildly and instinctively passes the ball to Ryusei Shidou, without actually knowing that he would be there to respond to the pass. This "contrarian pass" by Charles, along with Shido's "pursuit of pleasure", ends up leading to a goal for Paris X Gen. According to Yoichi Isagi, this maneuver only worked out because Charles had a visualization of the "ultimate play" that was brought about by his peak performance and egoistic mindset
