Sanzu is a member of Bonten. Bonten is considered the most terrible criminal organization in Japan, led by Manjiro Sano.

Bonten is engaged in various illegal activities, such as gambling, fraud, prostitution and murder. The ruthlessness and intolerance of the organization to traitors and informants makes it difficult for the police to obtain information about their activities.

• The person he respects or admires is Mikey.
• The people he dislikes or fears are smothering people.
• His dream is to be Mikey's right-hand man.
• Sanzu seems to be a clean freak. In the official drawings, Sanzu’s room was shown to be the cleanest. In the game, he asks Mikey to at least switch out the brushes with new clean ones. He also calls out Takemichi for having bad odor, and dislikes foods that make him sweat.

He is addicted to ecstasy, so he takes pills from time to time.

Haruchiyo has shoulder-length long hair, and he wears a blue-purple formal suit. He no longer wears his black mask, which reveals two scars on both sides of the corners of his lips. He also has a Bonten tattoo that can be seen on his right forearm. There are a number of piercings in both of his ears, including two helix piercings and two earlobe piercings, a total of at least four piercings on each ear. There are diamond-shaped scars on his face near the sides of his mouth.

As an adult, Haruchiyo seems to be more extroverted, blunt, and loud. Similarly, he resembles Joker. He is ruthless and displays psychopathic tendencies. It’s implied this is caused by the drugs he takes, which provokes his rather maniac personality. He takes sadistic delight and notorious euphoria when executing traitors, while voicefully stating he is enacting Mikey's will. When encountering Takemichi, Haruchiyo ordered him to be silent for the "king" would speak, and threatened to shoot Takemichi for his casual approach, believing it a disrespect.

In his younger days, before meeting Yasuhiro Muto, he was described as a wild horse who couldn’t keep himself out of trouble. This made it quite difficult for other divisions in the gang to manage him. It is said later on that he is often banned from meetings due to his ‘bad character’.

Haruchiyo’s most notorious trait is his fanatical idolatry towards Manjiro Sano, believing Mikey to be his "king" (akin to the Chess King), and thus deserving of the utmost respect, loyalty and devotion. He is so inclined towards protecting Mikey or the image of him, that he assaulted a gang by himself when they were badmouthing Toman. He also approached Mucho when released from detention, purely to kill him for treason for betraying his king, going as far as brutalize him to his bones for his remnants to be left to be found afterwards.
