Herneval future

Herneval, the prince of frights, finally managed to replace the royal nightmare-monger, Procrustes, with a human who would actually write stories that would scare humans. The human, named Frankelda, traveled between the world of existence and the realm of frights as part of her consciousness, and thus had a physical body within the world of frights.

One quiet day, the prince managed to escape his royal duties and distract Frankelda from hers, taking her to a small picnic in the new royal gardens, where after a couple of drinks the prince ended up with his entire face, neck and part of the feathers on his chest covered in marks from Frankelda's lipstick.

"What would the king and queen say if they saw us?" she said, looking around with concern.

"The prince is very lucky," replied the prince, his wings relaxed and leaning against the tree, still dazed from Frankelda's kisses.

The "scares," as Herneval's species Francisca named them, are nightmare beings whose existence depends on the fear humans have of them. Their existence hangs by a thread, since the royal nightmare-maker, the one in charge of creating nightmares for humans, fails to create nightmares that frighten them. This led Prince Herneval to discover the young girl when they were both small children. The prince was captivated by the girl and her stories, which led him to escape his kingdom and return every night to read what the young girl wrote, thinking that one day he might even be able to take her to his kingdom and make her the new royal nightmare-maker, perhaps thus protecting his people from disappearing.

And after a long time, the prince, now 20, and Frankelda, 21, managed to convince her to go with him to his kingdom, where he planned to make her the new royal nightmare keeper to save his kingdom. But Procrustes, the royal nightmare keeper, upon learning of the plans to replace him, decided to attempt a rebellion with the help of the leaders of the other five clans to overthrow the kings and proclaim himself the new ruler. However, upon being stopped, he was condemned to exile. Thus, the prince convinced Frankelda to become the new royal nightmare keeper, bringing an era of peace to the kingdom. She traveled between planes of existence in the form of a consciousness, staying for a couple of days to fulfill her duties as the royal nightmare keeper, taking advantage of the different way time worked in that plane, and becoming the prince's unofficial partner.
