As a teenager, Sal wore a black sweater, ripped red jeans, and blue and white sneakers. In Les Misérables, he wore a black hoodie, blue fingerless gloves, and green headphones while walking through the snow.

Despite being male, Sal seems unconcerned with how others perceive him or with traditional gender roles, as evidenced by his traditionally feminine hairstyle and his failure to correct Ms. Rosenberg when she called him a girl when they met. Furthermore, when they first met, Megan tells him, "Only girls wear ponytails, silly!" To which he replies that no one ever said only girls can wear ponytails and that he likes the look too.

As an adult, Sal seemed to become much more cynical and less trusting of other people and was very reluctant to open up to them.

Sal's most noticeable feature is his prosthetic facial mask, which is primarily white with a light pink patch above his right eye. He has blue eyes, the right eye being a prosthetic. From what is visible on his face: he has a large scar that runs diagonally across the right side of his mouth, splitting his lips and exposing his teeth; a scar on his left cheek, as well as several other smaller scars scattered across his face; an indentation on the right side of his lower jaw; and the cartilage of his nose is completely missing. He has bright blue, shoulder-length hair, which he usually wears in pigtails, and two piercings in each ear. He is noticeably shorter than his friends.

Sal Fisher, also known as Sally Face, is the game's protagonist. The son of Henry and Diane Fisher, he survived a tragic childhood accident that killed his mother and left him with deep facial scars, requiring him to wear a prosthetic. Years after the incident, Sal and his father moved to the town of Nockfell to start over, settling into room 402 of the Addison Apartments.
